well i wont say better but ones that are probably more
suited for what you want to do. ableton is very easy and its
not very easy to bounce up against

i been using this program called M for like a month now and
its rippin my head apart you should try it out its at
cycling74's site . if youve got some hardware synths its fun
and easy to midi up, you oughta check it out. i use it to
program my machinedrum , monomachine and nord micro modular
for some truly ill sounds the problem is mixing it together
which is my prob

also my problem is actually getting good sounding grooves
but i mean its easy to go the miles davis / brother weldon
route and ditch harmony altogether and just go for what
sounds juicy

Cygnus, you must be rich. That is the hardware set up I
have been eyeing up for a bit now. I want the G2 modular
though.

PS - If you are on a Mac, you might want to look into
Numerology for programming your hardware stuffs!

Cygnus, do you mean you use Max/Msp?

i don't know how to use that, but i want to learn it, it
seems alot like Audiomulch, but more complex

what's it called?

offline cygnus from nowhere and everyplace on 2007-11-21 22:39 [#02146662]

even if youre using max youre not in a do-whatever-you-want
situation.you are limited by what you know . same with any
piece of software really unless you know it backwards and
forwards

if you have the skin of a drum though, or a turntable.....
youre only limited physically/mentally, then you are in
do-whatever-you-want

Despite its name, Numerology is not "mathy" at all.

I just bought the legit version with the discount. I'm
looking forward to the 7 upgrade, it looks like there's some
pretty good stuff in that (upgrade is free if you buy 6
now...).

offline d lefty from United States on 2007-11-22 21:58 [#02147024]

I dont believe there are any legit hacked versions if
Ableton Live 6, almost every DAW has been cracked except for
Ableton, thats why I paid for it. I have been a Pro Tools
user for 3 years and I will never go back untill I can
afford a TDM setup, PT LE is so incredibly unreliable. After
getting some good quality synths including Reaktor 5, I
spent more time trying to get rid of Pro Tools DAE errors
than time actually making music. Logic has been working out
really well for me, but I do most of my stuff in Live. If
you work with a lot of Midi stay FAR away from Pro Tools and
really look into Live.

Pulsecock: the way to get the $289 version is to get a
hold of Live 6 lite (which came with my midi controller),
register the serial with Ableton, then you can buy the
upgrade to Live 6 for $289. It shouldnt be very hard to get
a copy of Live lite 6.
