Anyone else from the Clark love bus want to join in on this
thread, maybe say how his beats are crisp, or that he always
provides towels back stage, maybe that he's got good taste
in furnishings?

If it has the more imaginative twists and turns of "empty
the bones of you", then I am very much looking forward to it
(saying that, "Body Riddle" wasn'[t nearly as bad as people
have made out; in fact, in places it is positively great.)

People seem to enjoy bashing Clark in the same way as
VSnares on this board, and I can't see why. He's only
released three albums; the first was a simple, short,
charming romp through IDM, the next much more interesting
scattered waltz into some nice new territory, and the next a
fairly solid (but sometimes overly derivative) album
peppered with a good couple of beautiful bursts. I also
happen to like his "sound" and production style; it's
polished and (yes, that word) "crunchy."

i didn't like the previous album much at all, but the stuff
before that has been pretty decent in places! the direction
he's going in sounds a bit shit to me, but he might switch
off and do something different again, i guess. i'll always
give anyone a fair chance.

Trouble with Clark is that when he's good he's very good and
when he's bad he's awful. Bit like Squarepusher.

An album of unreleased tracks? If they were any good they
wouldn't be unreleased would they?

me to care about it :P

hey slipdrinkmats

i love your new album.

whats it called again?

'ilovewankingatmycomputerallday' EP.

real crunchy beatz.

Ha! I don't have an "album" out and if I did I'd call it
something funnier than that. I have never persued the making
of music beyond making a racket for my own enjoyment. What I
also enjoy is people like you who will ignore the ten people
saying "Yayy, new Clark, brilliant" and instead concentrate
on the one person saying "Meh, I don't like him". What are
you hoping, to shame me into admitting he's better than me
at "beats" and therefore I can't criticise? I'll criticise
all I like. Why don't you rejoice in the knowledge that
you're in the majority, the blessed and the easily pleased,
enjoy your Clark, thrive on that production, whilst I
languish lonely, on my tod, not really understanding the
merit of crunchy beats for their own sake, like I never
really hung round a record shop not buying anything and
pretending that I was a DJ, like a tosser.

And I'd be particularly perverse to call my LP an EP. Though
all you MP3 musicians with your elastic concept of what
constitutes an EP, I guess I'd get away with it.

clark is awesome no matter what good musicicans and
opinionists say in this site

clarence is great
empty the bones is simply genious
the eps are all great

maybe boddy riddle is not top ice but apart from that... the
guy puts some excellent electronic music xlt

this is of course good news

btw I am having a clark night, I started with Throttle
Clarence and Throttle Furniture and after that I will go
with ceramnics

I am enjoying a lot

i think body riddle is top ice. it's in my top five idm
albums along with rdj album, lilies, go plastic and draft
7.30.

I'll give it a chance, but I didn't like his last album at
all. Well produced technically, but that doesn't always make
for a rewarding musical experience. I did enjoy most of his
material before that, but with Clark you can always
guarentee at least half of the material is filler/shite.

Oh well, we'll see.

offline jules from United States on 2007-11-17 09:32 [#02144523]
Points: 754 Status: Lurker

there is zero filler on empty the bones...but i think i
understand what you mean...i personally love body riddle but
it doesnt have the longevity of empty the bones or
ceramics...i think i like throttle furniture more than body
riddle

offline Brisk from selling smack at the orphanage on 2007-11-17 09:34 [#02144526]
Points: 4667 Status: Lurker

I think I liked Clark better when he tried to copy Aphex
instead of attempting to make his own sound. Hence why the
first album and the follow up EP resonate more with me.

offline jules from United States on 2007-11-17 11:46 [#02144579]
Points: 754 Status: Lurker

i never understood why he gets so singled out for copying
aphex...i don't even hear what sounds copied, i think he has
his own sound, and he changes a lot, which even furthers him
from the aphex copy imo...i think people just think its cool
to bash him for some reason

offline BoxBob-K23 from Finland on 2007-11-18 15:38 [#02145101]

Clark (formerly known as Chris) is not so much copying afx
or anyone else as copying himself... he has his own sound,
who knows how the lad reached it, he's found something, he's
grabbed onto it, he's exploiting it, milking it... for his
nourishment, and for ours... milking the IDM-cow, the
cash-cow... He's cool.
