I don't think it is based on ID3 tags (besides the obvious
ones needed to scrobble that particular song/artist)

Instead, I think its based on what that artist is classified
as (techno, electronic, folk, indian speed garage etc...)

i'm not sure, apparently i've listened to 'trumpet' and
'check it out' as well... i'm at 35, but i just know i
listen to a lot more since i'm not always listening to music
on my laptop for example, i also like to throw on a CD or
Wax, and i spend at least 4 hours a day listening to my mp3
player while traveling.
