jaga jazzist - another day

AND NOW, a serious thread from mr. porick.

Jaga Jazzist's song, "Another Day", from the album "The
Stix."

Play it. Fast forward to 1:11.

The instrument that plays the solo - what is it?

I believe it's either a guitar or a sax.. The second half of
the solo would suggest that it's a sax - the "bending" of
the notes sounds more like that of a sax than a guitar - but
that got me thinking: CAN YOU BEND NOTES ON A SAX? AM I
SIMPLY JUST TOO DRUNK TO CONSIDER THE TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS
ON A SAXOPHONIST?

The "breathing" sound on the solo does indeed sound like
breathing, but with the kind of distortion that the solo is
fed through, it could easily be finger swipe up the
fretboard on the strings.

Any ideas guys?

you can over-blow on a sax to bend the note, right?

i always thought it was a sax. terrific track, by the way,
along with its "prequel". might need to dig out the stix
now.

indeed, yeah, i've always preferred "Day", but you've got to
let it lead into Another Day, you can't just cut it off "mid
song", so to speak.

so we're on 2 votes for sax

I always thought it was a saxophone. I was going to start a
topic about Jaga Jazzist the other day but I decided against
it because I thought people wouldnt care. I lead a full and
exciting life.

yeah it was a big disappointment. a livingroom hush
definitely tops the pile.

their debut "jævla jazzist grete stitz" is impressively
shit. unbelieveable.
