If you heard an IDM track played at a rave or party, how do
you dance to it?

i'm assuming while sober, but honestly, I dance totally
diffrent while on extasy (when i used to be into it).

Sober-Break Dance, liquid dance/poplocks, and if it's a rave
i use lights/glowstix

High-Vouge (hehehe, yeah, and it actually looks phat [or so
i'm told]) :)

seriously though, most of the dancing I do to idm consistes
mainly of just alot of head/shoulder bobbing, and the
occasional crotch-thrust of course

put your left leg forward, then your right one, jump back,
put your hands on hips and a pelvic thrust.

Repeat till end of song/energy.

Dancing--eek. I leave that to people who listen to
seven-and-a-half minutes of kick-hat-kick-hat kinda junk.

well do you mean like plaid or like autechre?

i can easily dance to plaid (although i just recently
realised that most people don't at the ATL show), many
aphex/squarepusher songs, some boc, ovuca etc. really, it
depends on what *kind* of idm you are talking about

yesterday i went to a gig by Dj. Suv (used to be with Roni
Size´s crew), and though it´s drum n´bass mostly i must
say, it seems preety hard to dance sober. at least some
hash, then close your eyes and feel the music (as cliché as
that sounds), then, whatever comes out naturally, that´s
it. No practiced moves or coreographies and shite.
(those who don´t dance actually look more retarded than the
ones that do....otherwise stay home and listen to a
record......)

anyway, ´bout IDM though, i don´t know. i don´t think i
could dance any Autechre or Plaid.

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-04-08 04:51 [#00161843]
Points: 3489 Status: Lurker

I can't go to a show without dancing unless I'm in a chair
the whole time. I can't help but bob the head or tap the
foot at the very least and I usually begin to dance at some
point. With Autechre it's just all crazy and spontaneous.

Music was made to move to.
When I saw Plaid at the Black Cat it was a bunch of mop tops
staring at those guys. You can do that at home. I was
shaking my ass all night long and it kicked ass.

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-04-08 05:05 [#00161846]

That's fine if people don't dance, but it just seems like I
can feel the music so much stronger when my body is in
motion to it. And at a plaid gig people were standin?
That's crazy. Plaid is straight up ass shake.
