Lots of cool improvements, including a standalone player,
so you can play logic synths without opening logic.
customizable as well.

Woot. logic studio

Wow, logic 8 out now, and Reason 4 on the way in a few short
weeks. What a great month for music software!

sometimes its a good idea just to let all the updates
go...and stick to your present setup - it just slows you
down..

i dont half need an emu x2 tho.haha . im selling my toe nail
clipings on ebay to get it.(well i'm saying they were james
deans...but never mind all that.haha)

logic sounds nice tho.. something logical in ones life cant
be a bad thing.

might check it out .

HEY !!! i was at a computer fair and this bloke was selling
every piece of crack software you could imagine( besides
emulator x)

all spread out on this 50-100 foot table ( no joke )
loads!!

everything he had logic and photoshop 3ds max...5 discs for
a tenner!!

reminded me of the time i found magic mushrooms for sale in
my local shop....totally blew my mind. well haha not as much
obvioulsy ..

freqs

well, in this case, there are so many things
improved/added/fixed that I am anxious to get it. Im sure
there will be bugs, but itll be worth it for me.

its more of a workflow update... functionality and stuff.
lots of little fixes that will make editing quicker and
easier.

cool sounds good...i heard logic is very modular, like you
can link things up internally . linking faders to pots and
such. yummy.

is there such thing thats not a compressor that turns off
sound completely on a particular channel when a threshold on
another channel is reached?

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2007-09-13 16:45 [#02119584]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

yes. a gate.

well im talking about seperate channels here. im talking
about having a gate on one channel but having the threshold
on another channel. one channel gets cut off when the other
channel gets loud enough or makes any sound at all. ive been
wanting to do this for years

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2007-09-13 18:18 [#02119616]

yeah, a gate with sidechaining.

have a send going to a bus. have your gates side chaininput,
be the bus.

i don't like the new version of Logic.

Logic has worked the same way (interface wise) since it's
inception on the Atari.

until version 8

:(

i think i'll stick with Logic Express 7

what program are you using? Ill help you figure it out. I
work mostly in Logic, but the same idea applies anywhere.

got my copy... installed it... loving it.

It's still logic... but it's not. All sorts of stuff Ive
WANTED is in there. The browser/list is extremely welcomed.
The fact that all the windows can be connected is also
extremely welcomed (you can still have detachable ones). The
double channel on the left is cool (if you have a track
sending to multiple buses, alls you have to do is click on
that send, and the right mixer updates to whatever bus that
is... extremely nice).

RIGHT CLICK FUNCTIONS. Dear lord, Ive wanted this for ages.
Either can be an additional tool, or just a rightclick menu
type dealy... both good.

Everything just feels more.... LOGICAL. Best upgrade to the
program so far. I dont care that there was only like 3 new
plugins... what really needed to be addressed was off of the
workflow and interface stuff... Im extremely happy.

Also, the delay designer is fucking ridiculous. Im looking
forward to exploring this plugin in depth!

The simple fact that the master volume is on the transport
is nice.

Overall, it seems like itll make the editing/production
process so much easier and less tedious.

yay!

ok, after having played around with this on my lunchtime, i
have come to the conclusion that although i had an initial
aversion to the new interface on Logic 8, i must admit that
it does lend itself well to a conducive work environment

get it if you can.

it's great

:)

:O what is the track like ?

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2007-09-19 10:23 [#02121597]

mohamed: yeah, it would be a nice feature... people keep
asking for it on the apple forum... you'd think they'd take
the hint? I get by though.

Obara: eh. I'm not a big plaid fan to begin with, but I
wasn't too crazy about it. It seemed even more poppy then
usual (there was like vocoded vocals and stuff) but it had
all the typical plaid sounds, lots of bells and rough synth
bass, and glitchy plaid drums.

sure its been leaked somewhere

I know nothing about renoise.

Only a little about Live. What gate plugin do you have? Is
it built into Live, or a 3rd part one?
