please list your top three for the following labels, but
exclude the apparently obvious (aphex and boc):

rephlex
planet mu
skam
ninjatune
merck

is there a major electronica label i have left out?

hrvatskis album is an essential of planet mu for me, and
from rephlex id say bogdans myloveilove or pproy seven up
but all rephlex albums are little gemms in theirselves,
specially the older stuff... ive never liked the too
tecnologic style of skam, but i used to love first mr76ix
and wevie stonder albums... cant really talk about ninjatune
or merck

I considered Chosen Lords to be more of a compilation than a
proper album

majors?

offline rogu rarebit from beggin' for leggings on 2007-09-06 11:06 [#02117749]
Points: 2164 Status: Regular

Skam:

Meam - The L
Mortal & Chemist - Supermechamaximegamegablast
Team Doyobi - The Kphanapic Fragments

(I excluded the ae related stuff. Lego Feet and all Gescom
12"s are of course essential listening)

Points: 2164 Status: Regular

Ninja Tune:

Coldcut - Let Us Play
Kid Koala - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Mr. Scruff - Keep It Solid Steel

I do not know this label very well; only have a few
releases. The Xen Cuts compilation is also good.

i'd guess it's because Kphanapic Fragments is absolutely
pointless. Which means, annoying, yet boring.

Mille Plateaux is a label with some great electronic artists
such as Andreas Tilliander, Frank Bretschneider, Tim Hecker.

I considered Chosen Lords to be more of a compilation than a

proper album

but it's the concise cd version of a very long vinyl album
it is an album, it is composed as such, I think it
represents an era and feeling/message from the artist, just
think of the vinyl as having tons of extra tracks

compilations generally cover different artists over a long
period of time don't they?
