Yeah...

bola :-|
aleksi perala :-(
rdj :-|
muziq :-|
boards of canada :-|
squarepusher :-/
... :-/
... :-|
... :-(

when something as good as astrobotnia, drukqs, lunatic
harness, music has right to children, go plastic, etc...

what's happening to electronic music? all this analogue acid
stuff is nice but is starting to bore.

i hope new by bochum welt will be not disappointing too

Look harder and stop believing that an artist or music in
general owes you anything.

there's still some nice music being released imo. last pan
sonic and jeff mills are brilliant. last team doyobi was
excellent as well. analords is one of the best things that
happened to electronic music in the past few years. and
there's so much excellent stuff from the past to hear..

i think level of electronic music going down a bit imo.

i like the tuss obviously but i think it's not as good as "i
care because you do", "richard d. james album", "selected
ambient works 85-92", "selected ambient works vol.2",
"drukqs", "surfing on sine waves", "ananlogue bubblebath 3",
etc...

i find last squarepusher release awful (i also forgotten
title)

bola and aleksi perala disappointing (astrobotnia was a
masterpiece)

bola :-| never liked em especially
aleksi perala :-( come off it it wasn't bad, on the tip of
astrobotnia
rdj :-| usually knocks the socks off everyone else or at
least matches em, if u mean the tuss what more do you want?
muziq :-| hmm ok best for years
boards of canada :-| always overrated, only did 1 or 2 good
tracks
squarepusher :-/ the last album was a *&^%$£ masterpiece,
challenging at times but deep and totally fulfilling
seems like you are losing it a bit, asking about bola and
boc is proof of that...
check out the new underground resistance!

Electronic music isn't going downhill; perhaps only the
artists you've mentioned are. There's a lot of good stuff
being released by newer artists on new labels. People should
look beyond Squarepusher, Vibert, AFX, Bola, etc. They're
great artists, but there are lots more to be discovered.

folk... that makes me think to ask you when the fuck is
gonna drunken mastah release a physical album? i love his
music, but i hate mp3. i need original palpable material...

What a lot of people don't realise is that all the IDM was
produced in one intensive, highly accelearated 5 year
period. It's all been done. And there's loads of it, it's
not infinite, but there's more than one natural human
lifespan could exhaust. So don't worry about "new IDM
records", that's an oxymoron. Officially the last IDM record
came out in 1997. All IDM musicians working in that period
were granted special powers to create as much great music as
their little hands could keep up with. But after the cut off
date the powers were revoked, and was passed onto another
genre. Whilst the IDMs were left trying to recapture what
they half recalled as being any good. But it was pointless.

make the effort and look for other electronic artists apart
from those 4-5 you mention now and then. don't limit
yourself to the "idm superstars"

1997 is too early.
what about confield, what about geogaddi, what about drukqs,
what about phonem, arovane, funckarma..

I say the last IDM album was draft in 2003.

and all this about the last idm album? i mean, wisp's done a
perfectly good album in 2006 (honor beats) - which i
consider to be idm. and the tuss.

also, the new squarepusher is a masterpiece.
Clark went downhill a bit, boards of canada's album rocks,
even though they went mainstream and not as weird.
Bola's new album has some good moments but all in all
disappointing.

As for rdj, i love tuss, and analord :D

Yeah true, but IDM as a genre has really been dead before
that.
Not many are releasing anymore, and everyones sorta passed
the idm thing i guess. Well some are not.

2000-2004 were very good years for IDM, but beyond 2004 i
cant really remember any idm albums that were good.

I don't consider the new boc idm, nor do I consider untilted
it really.

i know woofer is a fan of afx, astro etc... but sorry i
can't even discuus with someone who dislikes the tuss... i
mean, i like it as much as the "classix" afx lps. i don't
understand how someone who likes bola & µziq cannot jump in
the air after listening to the tuss lp (did you hear the
first track off rush up edge? come on, its killer track!).
+ also : the latest cylob / a.perala / dopplereffekt are
much loved between my 2 ears.
++ many great releases from Emego, Touch these days.

I tend to listen to music I like, not keep buying shit
records and going "Hang on, the last time this bloke made a
half decent tune was a decade ago... and they're still
putting out this shit"... think of all the other stuff
you're missing out on,... by ARTISTS and MUSICIANS
(sometimes both).
