you have a business management degree and you're worried
about getting minimal wage? you gotta be kidding.

go be a truck-driver or something. it pays well and you're
always from home so it's really easy to run away from life

For serious though:

Apply for jobs, if you don't get phone calls within a few
days, like 3 or 4, do follow ups. Take the initiative
yourself to show them that you are intrested. they'll say to
themselves, "Hey, this guy really wants the job."

At the interview, when they ask "Why should we, at ________
hire you?", or "Why do you want to work for ________?",
always say something like, "Well I did some research on your
organization before applying, and from what I saw, you look
like a great comapny to work for." Tell them how the
benefits are great, the customer service is great, even if
you don't know or anything. BS them the whole way.

And places that seem to or do have high employee turn over
rates, always tell them you would like to stay with the
organization as long as possible, because you feel like you
could be an asset to them.

Ask them about their probationary period. If it's say 90
days, tell them that it will be as much of a test for them
as it is for you. They'll see how hard you are willing to
work to advance with the company, and you will be seeing how
good of a company it really is to work for.

I guess it just shows that you're serious about having the
job and you mean business.

I've had much success getting jobs here following those
steps. And only after two days with Payless Shoes, I've been
asked if I want to be a keyholder/supervisor or not. AND I
HAVE NO RETAIL OR MANAGMENT EXPERIENCE!

Chick-Fil-A is considering making me a shift supervisor
also, and I've only been there three weeks.

Best paid job I ever had was web design, but that's not
steady income unless you're ready to start your own company
and work like hell to get jobs, so I don't recommend it.

I'm a qualified site carpenter and I only get 7.50uksterling
an hour making steel doors and fitting them. It pays my
debts and I'm happy which is the most important.

I've trained 3 years to barely beat minimum wage, that
sucks!
Although if I was determined I could get a carpenters job on
site earning 12.00uksterling an hour but i'm lazy.

Happiness matters in work. Nobody sticks at a shite well
paid job forever, it gets too much.

It probably wasn't the best paid job, in fact it was only a
few dollars above minimum, but in high school I worked as an
usher in a 20 screen movie theatre for almost 3 years. For
the last 6 months of my tenure, roughly, I was basically the
one who always helped the managers put together the giant
"standee" cardboard promo pieces, and was working up in the
booth (projection) as well. That means almost never cleaning
theatres. Aside from sitting around building stuff (fun),
the only thing to do was seat theatres, which really is easy
work. I'd often hang out in the projection booth for the
better part of 6 hours. There were two 20 feet ladders
leading onto the roof, on which people sometimes smoked
weed, though I never did. We went through a couple different
sets of managers over that time period, but the GM of that
theatre was an ex-surfer possibly still-stoner named
"Roland" (haha, great name), so it was a pretty laid-back
job to have considering how busy that theatre often was.

Yeah, it was a cool job, though for the first 1-2 years I
kinda hated it. I could have easily gotten another job, but
most of my friends worked there at the time so I stayed for
that reason. I guess sometimes, when faced with a shitty
situation, persevering, rather than quitting, can be its own
reward, as the job eventually got much better. I had to
leave when I moved to a city 3 hours away to start college,
about 4 years ago.

extra in a movie
50 € for sitting near a good and well known german
actor in the tram. spend just 3 hours on the set,
talked to the crew, director and got some catering :)

pros: pays well, no real work, no qualifications needed

cons: just extra money, can take up to a whole day

Before tax I earn about £22 an hour. I used to earn more,
now I don't. It's not bad though. Pay's the bills and shit.
I have no qualifications except for hard work and
experience.
I will start my own company again within the next 5 years.

house painting, manual labor, clean outs, and landscaping
are all jobs which pay relatively well and require
absolutely no skill (well, painting does, but it gets picked
up quite quickly).

best of all, quite often, when you at least start out you
will get paid in cash. always great to avoid those pesky
taxes.

Construction labourer. Can be good money (60.00-90.00 pound
a day) although you do have to work, but its simple and it
keeps you fit.

Or if you can bear it ; factory operative, here theres a
chicken factory that pays 7.00pound an hour to kill
chickens.

I'm getting a job soon as soon as I get clean that starts at
$11.25/hour (my friend's mom is pretty high-up there, so
she's basically handing me and him a job).

Though, I have made money gaming as well, so if you count
the money won in competitions on a per hour basis, it'd be
significantly more than that.
