Rushup Edge @ 33

^This is the new Tuss album Rushup Edge played at 33RPM
instead of 45. It sounds LUSH. If you decided not to buy the
album because of the leak, it's definitely worth getting the
vinyl, you've got two brilliant albums here if you change
speeds.

Here's where people start complaining:
The vinyl rip is a 160kbps .wma rip. This is the best wma
quality i can rip at. I can't hear any distortion at 128, so
160 is good enough for me. If you're so worried about
bitrate, go buy the vinyl, it really is worth it.

It's up on Twango, not sure how fast it is or how long it'll
stay up there (the files last forever, but I'm not sure how
relaxed they are with copyright etc.)

On a more positive note, I've included downloads of the
Myspace tracks Teddy Oggie and Trevronn.

Enjoy,
Future Image.

This sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing this, as I don't
have a turntable.

If anyone does in fact hear this and can manage this same
experiment at a higher quality, it would be really
appreciated. I'm not complaining, I just dont have the
means right now to do this myself and would really
appreciate the best possible quality for this. Again, thank
you futureimage for sharing this. I hope it motivates
people to share their own versions.

On another note, hearing this makes me wonder if he actually
is writing this stuff at half speed and doubling it up on
the release. Synthacon sounds particularly ghetto
funktified at 33. I'm really loving it.

is idm the only genre where people go batshit for playing
records either faster or slower?

50s into synthacon it gets FUNKY.

"hearing this makes me wonder if he actually
is writing this stuff at half speed and doubling it up on
the release."

That's what I always figured people like RDJ and now, the
Tuss, did anyway. I mean, it just makes logical sense to
record it slower to make it easier on yourself, and then
speed it up afterwards.

my personal favorite at this speed is death fuck,
particularly the second half where that bell sound comes
in... then everything drops out but the piano, and then
slams back in BOOM

all sorts of sounds, effects, shuffling beats and
syncopation "hidden" in these tracks. wonderful experience
to hear them slowed

rest of the track can't be sped up just a touch with the
slower whirring melody.

except if you slow it down in soundforge using mp3, youre
going to be missing tons of frequencies which would normally
be audible as pitch shifting it also shifts the audible
frequency range. also, youre effectively lowering the sample
rate where as on vinyl there is no loss in fidelity
whatsoever.

for example i remember hearing about drukqs slowed down, so
i tried it on my mp3s. sounded like shit. but when i
downloaded the vinyl rips, the difference was unbelievable.

oh, and thanks for these btw!

Yeah, wondered whether that would happen with doing that,
I've tried it before and it sounded a little different.

Chaosmachine: Soundforge will only let me save to wma cos I
got a shitty version and I can't be arsed to convert the
files etc. etc.

tasty. thanks.

I can understand enjoying a 33rpm version (some portions are
beaut), but all these people saying rushup is shit at normal
speed? twats. best release so far this year but because of
the RDJ association you've always got those who are going to
shit on it. It's like the fuckin iphone... so good it's GOT
to suck!

Yeah, it fucks with the RIAA curve. A good vinyl preamp
compensates and I believe you can even do it digitally if
you know the right settings.

But vinyl all the way.

But I really don't care. It'll be an 'awakening' of no kind.
I'm sure you're really excited by whatever this amazing
revelation is (but really, can it match the majesty
of listening to The Tuss... BUT SLOWER?!) but that doesnt
change the fact that I think those tracks are crap and will
not give a fuck what label they're on.
