Gnarly. I always wondered what it would be like to be a
giant, subterranean-dwelling carnivorous worm-beast.

It's pretty addicting. My current high score is 601, which
isn't very good. I was sailing smoothly but then I went from
50 health to -8 health (dead) abruptly when I accidently
popped up in a group of soldiers. I guess there were more of
them overlapping than it seemed.

Good game. I was watching Tremors 3 last week, so funny to
play the game of it now :)

Dunno, I think 4 but possibly 5. It's hard to keep track of
combos because I concentrate hard on dodging the bullets and
landmines every time I breach the surface.

ok so I may have been wrong about my combo, I was just
played another game without changing my style of play and
was getting 8 and 9 combos easily... I just hadn't been
paying attention to it until now.

high score yesterday was only 530......687 this
morning.........11 combo

got killed by a ground penetrating bomb........ and could
see ufo's..

good game.....

Woo, got my new high score of 1266! At that point in the
game, there are constant ground-penetrating and surface
bombs, as well as ufos who's beams do massive damage. I went
from 1100 points with 90 health to 1266 and dead... I wonder
if thats as tough as the game gets or if there is more
mayhem to be had?

849.........

1266 is rediculous!

You shoulda seen how fat my worm got!! Until that point, I
wasn't even sure if he was growing, as I was focusing on not
getting bombed, but I glanced at around 1150 and he was like
an inch wide on the screen. Lol he got so fat I could barely
maneuver, and made an easy target any time I breached the
surface.

My secret is just to skim the top very briefly in groups of
enemies. If you go at them from behind, anything armed with
a gun won't fire at you. You can even go straight vertical
and just peak your mandibles out and then go right back
under for a stealh attack.

crazy!

yeah, i was sniping just under the surface, becomes an
exercise in patience, until the ground-penetrators come
along!.......... can you eat the aliens, or do they cause
damage if you do?

stealth*

the vertical peak" move might take some practice, as you
often dont break the surface and have to go again, or you
breach too far and get shot up a bunch. Once you've got it
down though, it becomes really easy to pick off difficult
enemies.

Oh, and always go at tanks from the bottom, youll push them
up and away from you. If you go at them horizontally, even
from behind, you seem to take damage from the explosion,
though I could be wrong about that.

The green-slug-aliens-with-backpacks, as I like to call
them, seem to be 100% edible. Same with the grey aliens
(that are, in this case, green as well). At first I thought
they hurt you because their blood is green, the same as
yours, but I'm fairly certain you can eat them and not be
harmed.

Reminds me of DUNE.

I wish the game had gamepad support but fun none the less.

this is fun. best combo is 32.
Wait until you get the zillions of paratroopers then hoover
them up in one go if you have enough health.

Yeah I love the paratroopers part, But Ive still only gotten
a 12 combo on them, as I try to just skim the surface
breifly and pick them off in little groups. I went from 37
health to 100 health during the two waves of paratroopers by
skimming them so stealthily that I didn't take a single
damage from them, and ended up gaining all my life back from
the combos. I wish this game lasted a little longer because
I'm definitely enjoying it. Unfortunately, it just kind of
bottoms-out at 1200+ points and becomes too much bedlam to
survive.

yeah its a shame that towards the end there are way too many
bombs going off. It would be nice if something survived to
eat. Also the UFOs do too much damage to the worm if you hit
them and there are too many tunneling bombs.

I only use the stealth to get the elephants and the big
green guys with backpacks. Also I found out that you go
faster out of the ground, so by diving in and out in big
loops like a dolphin builds up loads of speed so you can
completely out manouver any bullets and grab a load of
animals.

its a fun little distraction.

It's interesting how many different playing styles emerge in
such a simple game. I thought I had worked out a perfect
plan of attack, but your strategy is completely different
than mine, and actually seems to work just as well for you.
I skim horizontally just under the surface at top speed, and
pop out just long enough to harvest a bunch of stuff (which
can be done with just one tooth/mandible popping out) and
then disappear under the surface. The only time I have to
change this tactic is when the tunnelling bombs start
dropping, at which point it's better to go at the "badguys"
vertically from deep down to give yourself as much time as
possible to dodge the tunnel bombs.

This game is absolutely wicked if you try to get massive
combos. I got 75 as my best combo :D

I've also found out that the worms come when you're health
is low, so intentionally get hurt a lot at the start and
they have loads of time to build up under the ground before
all the tunnelling rockets arrive, so just by moving
underground you inevitably come across 2 or 3 and get a
health fix.

I just learned that the music in this song is from Alien
Power on the Megadrive. Sorry if it's already listed
somewhere in the credits, I didn't read those.

The song is called Alien Power and it's from Streets of Rage
2.

ah, the tracklisting just said 'alien power - megadrive'. I
thought they meant the game's name, not the level, but I
stand corrected. :]
