 | What's it like? I'm listening to Clipper now, but haven't really heard anything else... and I have it ordered... I
know it's probably considered Autechres best overall by most
people, but what's it like overall?

on it. Garbage was boring but lots of people seem to feel

 phenomenal.

 | It took me about 10-15 listens to really appreciate Tri-Repetae. Only after repeated listens do you tend to
notice the subtle changes in texture and rhythm.
Now I'm having a hard time stopping.

 | I feel that Tri-Repetae has a very dark stylish noir feel to it...not a very Ae thing going by most of their other
work...it is almost a self-conscious work of art...and it is
for that very reason..inspite of its being a piece of art,
that I rate it beneath most other Ae work...

That said...the most disliked Ae record is about 2 gazillion
billion times better than the average run of the mill
by-the-numbers techno tracks that get made by the dozen.

 | I don't like it much, but I agree with Alnuit in that it's got a really sharp style. And I like the sound... but the
melodies and beats that I look for just aren't there.

++ is much better, of course... any release with Vletmrx21
on it has a huge advantage.

 | This topic doesn't die until I say so... ;)
Tri Repetae ++ was my first exposure to Autechre (and "IDM"
in general). The thing that caught me off-hand at first
listen was how RUTHLESSLY precise the beats were. They
weren't ordinary techno beats either, they were upgraded
into cold, mechanically streamlined measures that gave off a
sharp, focused sound. Add to that some amazingly warm
melodies; contrasting, yet complementing the beats
structured around them. First listen through, I was hooked
and on my way to a larger musical world (and becoming
 hopelessly addicted to Autechre's sound).

 | tri rep++ sounds like the soundtrack to a detached abstract sci-fi movie (that has probably never been made but perhaps
should). Maybe a modern 2001, even the soundtrack to that
film worked because of the contrast to the rest of the film
rather than because of the association.

 | Tri Repeatae is the best piece of music ever made . . ... .. imho

with the possible exception of some classical pieces that
are unsurpassable quality wise.. I mean, it's tough to say
it beats Bach, for example.. but you know

Anvil Vapre might just be the best EP ever made
