i checked out burial a few months ago from all the hype it
was getting as the first "real" dubstep album and wasnt too
impressed.

then the other day i remembered hearing about this guy
boxcutter who sounded like suqarepusher but then ended up
doing some of the dubstep thing so i figured id give it
another shot.

well, this time, i am impressed. great atmosphere, terrific
sound design, and of course, huge bass. a subwoofer or tight
inear headphones are a must. its menacing while almost soft
at the same time.

anybody got any more suggestions as to stuff in a similar
vein?

He is a fantastic artist. Him and Burial skirt around the
outside of the genre and become more interesting as a
result.

His 12" release on Planet Mu is on another level for me.
Stunning work, can't wait for new material from him.

im no fan of dubstep, with few exceptions. there are some

Great artist. You might want to check out Reso. He has a
couple 12"'s out that have the experimental dubstep feel of
Boxcutter. Also, Pinch's "Qawwali" and Digital Mystikz's
"Anti War Dub" are a must.
