kitano's new film already on screens. going next week for sure! any fans any ops? btw, i had the chance to see dead mans shoes on a cinema with spanish subtitles the other day. not a bad film, i really enjoyed. it reminded my of funny games. identification with a bad guy, suporting pain and killing... oh, couldnt stop thinking about the man's being one of the autechre guys killing people... |

I bought this on DVD last week for 2 bucks from the amnesty international table at a weekend market. Takeshis Castle transformed into MXC is much more enjoyable for me. I saw Zatôichi in a french cinema last year in Japanese with french subs. I had no idea what the fuck was going on :D |

I love Brother, Hana-bi and Sonatine. I really want to see Violent Cop, just for the title more than anything. His acting in Battle Royale is awesome too. |

what a weird film... i cant say if its good or not (althought i missed some of the kitano's typical camera amazinglyexpressing movements...err), but i liked it. a bit of a madness, like fellini's 8 1/2 as they say or like a japanese lynch film (explicit reference, i guess... he even included a blue theater!). i think he is just taking the piss 'hey look im a director, i do thefuck i want in my film', but at the same time hes talking about creating and existing. recommended to those who like that kind of dreamy/abstract stuff. not recommended to those who actually want a real story and something clear to understand. |
