1) To test webpages on safari without having a mac. 2) To test "applications" for the iPhone on a PC 3) cause pulldown menus have a little peice of candy stuck to them!!!!

Plus, a properly rendered acid test 2 is a thing to behold.

on the mac the new safari is definitely a lot more snappy than the previous version. the auto spellcheck is nice. the ability to shuffle those tabs quite handy...
forget about the older safari versions. version 3 is where it's at!

it's pretty nice on the PC too, except text is fuzzy and irritating on a regular (non-lcd) monitor.

It's a good thing. More testicles = more iron.
You can set the font smoothing to "light" in preferences.

I really like the way the inline finder thing greys out the page.

That's cool.
Any way I can set fonts on only xltronic.com to display one notch larger?

View --> make text bigger? :-)
One thing I don't like is it doesn't seem to have a way to relocate the profile to another directory or partition. I like to keep my Firefox profile on an encrypted partition so my stored passwords stay private if the laptop gets stolen.

Oh no, duh, ONLY on xltronic you want.
Can you do that on Firefox? I did not know.

Yeah, you can set site specific css through some sort of userchrome.css hackery, or something.
Apparently all of your settings are in %userdata%\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari\
and in preferences.plist thres: AllowSiteSpecificHacks
...I have no idea what that means..

memory usage for this page: firefox: about 30 MB Safari: about 49 MB (both on windows)
Safari crashed when I tried a video on youtube, the second time it didn't crash...and fonts are still too smooth even when you set font smoothing to "light"(this really makes it annoying to use)
But it's an early version so I hope it'll improve and I hope they'll release a linux version too
On my old computer (Celeron 533) the fastest graphical internetbrowser is still "links -g"(links2) on linux but that one it really small and doesn't render all pages properly, it's still usable though, I also have it running through cygwin on windows xp on another pc

Opera is still the fastest and it also passes the acid2 test. Safari is very slow on my PC and since I don't have an LCD monitor the text is all weird on my CRT, at least IE7 has an option for normal text.

It's "is," I think.
Can someone who has a mac and a pc somehow confirm that the pc safari does indeed render stuff like the mac safari? That would be the only reason for me to get this: Testing designs on safari without a mac...
