Real cinema.

The clip or the actual movie?

If the movie, I thought that some of it dragged
unnecessarily, but yes, "real cinema" or whatever.

Real cinema of the Internet 2.0 era that is.

No, not the actual movie. It is not 2.0 at all and is
therefore irrelevant.

Oh, I see (no I don't). : )

Anyway, I liked the dynamic of having the cops and former
employers on your ass. So much could have been done with
that material, though, and without making it a "Hollywood"
movie either.

It did drag it places. For real.

I'm sorry, the thread is really about this video, not
the film.

The film is alright and kind of useless.

i haven't seen this, but i just wanted to say that the
french were part of the few who knew what Real Cinema was. i
consider godard's new wave period to be the beginning and
end of cinema.

Yeah....

Anyway. I think a remake is feasible without disgracing the
original. Maybe not. It's just the idea of having the the
authorities and ruthless thugs after you very interesting.
What can you do? That aspect in the movie wasn't developed
to my satisfaction is all.

To be honest, I haven't seen much of Godard. Maybe only
Bande à part, which I love, and Norte Musique, which I
don't like.

I know I'm stating this with limited knowledge of Godard's
work, but Antonioni is a far better filmmaker.

I think I saw Masculin, féminin. Was it another one of
those films with quick cuts to poster boards with political
messages on them. I don't know. I don't think I liked it.
Wait, is it the one where the guy is dating a girl that is
trying to become a pop star or something?

You need to see his more recent output, especially
Histoire(s) du cinéma. I find it sad that no one seems to
care about any of his work past 1967 when there's so much
truly beautiful stuff.

And there's also this little video I posted in the first
post which should be the centre of your attentiontionstion.

Histoire(s) du cinéma

You see, the thing is, I just want to be told a freakin'
easy to follow story. None of this quick cut crap fitting in
political messages and other hogwash. I finished rewatching
Yojimbo and Sanjuro yesterday. Now those movies where great.

trust me, i'm working my way up to his later works. it took
me a very long time to find and watch all of his new wave
output. thanks to godard i can't watch new movies anymore.

Maybe you should read books instead.

How many levels off the "hip" meter does disliking Godard
take you. Do you plunge into the negatives or what?

those movies were great indeed, yojimbo especially. i wish i
had the more recent criterions, since my copies have
terrible transfers.

i do read books! i just mean that modern movies generally
seem so empty and devoid of spirit, compared to early godard
films which were so filled with energy and youth and
sincerity and love.

Just judging from Norte Musique, Godard is too esoteric.

Do you like Fist Full of Dollars more or less?

I sort of like its ending a tad more than Yojimbo's.

I mean Clint's entrance is fucking fantastic, coming through
the smoke of a dynamite explosion. GOD DAMN! And then the
"bulletrpoof vest". FUCKING CHRIST! Then the Mexican
standoff. FUCKIN' HELL!
