both.

mapp and myself probably push h30 (and s e a n) the most on
this board. wonderful stuff, really. but it demands
attention and the right mood. keep digging.

hafler trios older stuff was fantastic now they do very very
boring drones, probably because the guy is slowly dying and
on hardcore opiates. the definitely did not survive the
test of time like nurse with wound and Zoviet france did

i would suggest 'A Thirsty Fish' or 'Fuck' (all made from
sounds of him jerking off in a bucket)

"they do very very boring drones"
no no no !
"I never knew thats who you thought you were"
the 1st bit of that where it kicks in reminds me of the 3d
shark that comes out of the billboard in back to the future
3,somehow

I recommend the track "Starfall" from a compilation disc
with Zov iet*France and Jim O'Rourke. Some of the creepiest
music I've ever heard

rad smiles: I think the one that everyone seems to recommend
(and I agree) for getting into Hafler Trio is Kill The King.
It's one of the most atmospheric things I've ever heard.

Tips for Hafler listening: Listen at night, preferably
raining outside. Then, if you can, listen [not
uncomfortably] loud on speakers (but headphones is almost as
good), laying in bed with your eyes closed. Let your mind
wander and the terrifying beauty of the Hafler Trio will be
revealed.

funny thing is a link off that page goes to something which
mention H3O "of the building of forms by vibrations" which
is off Sea Org, but they've got the shitty plastic cover
version without the Sea Org things.

"Play the Hafler Trio" was originally going to be called
"Nurse With Wound Play the Hafler Trio" but Steven Stapleton
of NWW did not like the end result or something. Hafler
wanted to release it anyway so the mention of NWW was
removed from the record. It is a collaboration between the
two however and has some good moments.

I don't know what to think of the new stuff, but when
jackeroffer said

"hafler trios older stuff was fantastic now they do very
very boring drones, probably because the guy is slowly dying
and on hardcore opiates"

I found myself agreeing. Actually, I think I could make
better drones.

I know alot of people here like Hafler Trio, but I have to
say it, I think most of their stuff is a boring piss take. I
get more enjoyment listening to my own alien drones with
some brainwave generator added ontop.

I liked the collab with ae (and no, not cause it was a
collab with ae), I just liked the way I could get absorbed
(literally) into the tracks, pulled into the sounds. Being
ripped out of my body.
