I've suddenly realized

I've suddenly realized to what extent my life is "over.I
looked at a young woman, maybe in her early 20's and came to
realize that her time is now. Her 20 something boyfriend's
time is now. But to her and those like her, I'm invisible.
I'm no longer an option. My time is past. Long past.

I can no longer "start over" again. I could, but not really.
It's not like starting when you're 23. Back then, I would
have had 20 years ahead of me before I get to be my age. At
23, anything is possible. You still haven't met that person
you'll start your life with, you haven't really settled on
that career. You haven't even really tied yourself to a
location. The world is your playground.

I can maybe change things in my life, but the direction is
set. At best I can deviate a little from the predicted path.
Even though I'm not 80 yet, I only have a few short years
before I'm officially ol

76! Monoid's grumpy because, as a hitler youth, he had a leg
blown off.

the internet is a beautiful invention. the person who wrote
that actually sat down and typed his deepest feelings and
posted it on the internet...

...after which monoid came, copied it and posted it here.
marvelous. the amount of crap that's smeared out over the
internet is fantastic!

Your path is set from birth. You are stuck in societies
value system; try and get out of it and see what happens.
Your path has been entirely dictated to you by others, every
scrap of knowledge residing in your mind was given to you by
someone else. There is nothing in your thoughts that you can
call your own, therefore you never truly experience anything
as you are constantly referencing second-hand information.

The same applies whether you are 1, 23 or 90 - so you never
really had freedom at all. Does that make you feel better?

into cookies.

the answer lies in psychedelic drugs. It's a shame you don't
even bother aquiring any.
