was 30 years ago today star wars opened at cinemas!!

me and my friends plan on watching the original trilogy
(dunno how much we'll get through). playing drinking game,
though we dont really have any rules, other than a whole
bunch of silly ones (drink every time mark hamill is a bad
actor).

how will you be celebrating this GRAND event?
got any star wars drinking games yourself?

Is that to be sung to the tune of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts
Club Band?

Mr. George Lucas, first I wanna say great job and all best
of luck to you in the other parts of your life. I have been
born and raised a Star Wars fan and at times it can get
kinda annoying, but I was wondering what do you think of
Star Wars Galaxies? Do you think it helps true Star Wars
fans? And it brings in a pretty penny, eh? Peace.

George Lucas: For many years, some of the diehard fans
wished they could live in the Star Wars galaxy. One way to
allow this to happen is to create a video game that allows
fans to immerse themselves in a virtual world and interact
with millions of other fans. I thought the idea of Star Wars
Galaxies was fantastic. The fans could finally pretend to
exist in that galaxy far, far away. I’ve never played the
game because I don’t have time to do so, but I’ve heard
it is one of the greatest video gaming experiences of all
time. As you hinted, Star Wars Galaxies produces massive
profits for Lucasfilm. We make hefty sums of money from
monthly fees payed by the gamers. I hope the fans continue
to enjoy this experience for many years to come.

lol.

wow, some of the suggestions on that page are kind of
baffling. For how long you can tell they spent coming up
with some of those ideas, you'd expect them to be slightly
less... terrible. Good on George for being nice to them
anyway. :)

my HD sharpish before permanent damage was sustained.

i find that the acting, effects, pacing, etc are all best in
the empire strikes back. the best star wars movies are the
ones george lucas had nothing to do with.

i used to be proud to like starwars (a new hope)...then jedi
came out which aint to bad considering the latest three.
then i kept quiet about it all.

'a new hope' has the most amazing score the sound effects
are incredible. The millenium falcon is the coolest ship ever
and r2d2 makes the cutest noises too. i love that film.

no shit, the new ones are horrific
its true that empire strikes back is the best, which surely
aint a coincidence considering lucas didnt direct it.
the tv series could either ultimately ruin the series just
that much more, or perhaps once its handed over to people
who actually have an idea what makes star wars star wars, it
may pick up again.
until then, i'll just have to play with my star wars action
figures under my bed covers and pretend im watching the
greatest movie ever.

i am gonna celebrate by inventing a brand new rapid fire DVD
launcher and letting loose a hail of pirated versions of the
double trilogy at any ones that says any of the associated
words like force, yoda, jedi ... etc etc etc..
slice and dice baby..

What comes to my mind is the RZA!

"I'm in the clouds like my man Calrissian Lando, bust shots
like Marlon Brando"

in class today, some girl was talking to some guy, having a
convosation along the lines of 'how can you not know who
marlon brando is??' and started asking other people if they
knew he was. i reply with 'the godfather and apocolypse now'
and she replies with '....what?'
... what? indeed!
