the gameplay was alright. although the concept of the game
were pretty interesting as well as the characters.

samurai showdown is the only fighting game i respect besides
mortal kombat. the music is fucking great, characters were
amazing and the original chop in half fatalities were
hilarious.

the fact that you respect mortal kombat means that you know
nothing about fighting games

you can deny it i guess, but mortal kombat had a huge
following. it had a cult following just like SF.

i think also cause it wasn't animated. it seemed somewhat
feasible to have these godlike beings wreck havoc inorder to
captivate the player.

theres no need to get hysterical.

anyways... all i'm saying is that for the way it was
presented, it was revolutionary for its time. although like
you previously stated it didnt have any 50 hit combo's like
killer instincts and the like. i do think it deserves some
merit.

its just blood its not revolutionary

its like saying that cartoon where the cute animals die
horribly was revolutionary

dude i cant believe you made a comment about fighting game
quality and dissed mortal kombat.
please take your head out of your asshole.
Mortal Kombat 2 & 3 have some of the finest gameplay ever in
a 2d fighting game. There is non priority moves (unlike
street fighter where a dragon uppercut will ALWAYS counter
certain moves no matter what the timing). Everything is
based on timing in mortal kombat, there was a block button
(whats this hold back pussy bullshit). The juggle combo
system has yet to be rivaled. There are conceptual special
moves that only street fighter dreamed it was able to come
up with.

your probably one of those guys who thinks Tekken is a
quality fighting game, and if thats the case..... fuck you.

fighter III 3rd strike

guilty gear x2 is my favorite 2d fighter next to street
fighter alpha 3 - but i did enjoy some samurai showdown back
in the day. i had the chugging genesis port that lacked
earthquake but had amakusa.

my only personal problem with mortal kombat is that the
combat is the old ones is SO reliant on special manuevers.
every character has the same basic attacks and are only
distinguished from each other by appearance (sometimes) and
special moves. therefore, when playing a computer, you
either get cheaped to death or well... cheaped to death. the
dial-a-combos in mk3 were a nice addition but were basically
just more special moves with multiple inputs. at least in
street fighter each character had six different basic
attacks, all unique to each character, with different
movesets in the air and while crouching, with some variants
depending on the opponent's range as time progressed in the
series. and that was SNES days.

however, i would be lying if i said i didn't enjoy some
mortal kombat. i like mk2 more than mk3, though i couldn't
tell you why...

you ppls ever hear of the EVO championships? These are real
intensities! EVO's so big that it's sponcered by Toyota (the
best car to buy now IMHO), with Tournament-purses in the
thousands!

The other caretaker monk here at my humble
temple(www.cosmicsunbuddha.net) LOVEs the EVO vids offa
you-tube. They've got 2D tourneys, and a 3d circut. I've
watched some of the DVD's the EVO events produced, and it's
tight!

It's all over the net...

here's an article that'll help you NOOB-alicious ppls get to
the next one:

and here to the official site: http://www.evo2k.com/

3rd strike 4 life, yo. i play the bottom tier characters
like sean and hugo and everyone loves me for it. i'm the
life of any 3rd strike party. my top character is elena.

sean is actually a pretty good character if you know how to
use him

also i'm a really big fan of Q

sean was a beast in new generation and second impact, but
was severely gimped in third strike. but i definitely agree
that he's a pretty good character if you know how to use
him, which i do.

i recently had an epic match with a friend where i beat his
chun li with my q. the kicker is that i even forgot to use
q's taunt to beef him up!

i've always been a Bison fan myself - he destroys. but not
alpha bison - i want classic Bison, like SFA3 C-Style or as
they had him in the Capcom vs SNK games recently. Psycho
Crusher all the way.

Though if I need a fireball user, my choice is Sagat. He was
slow in Street Fighter II, but improved majorly upon his
appearance in Alpha.

What's the one where you can turn an old man into a half
bird half man fighter? He'd have a bird's head and feet.
Every round gave the character a new weapon. It was an
arcade game I was playing at a movie theatre.

I prefered Mortal Kombat to Streetfighter, still do. Also,
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and Deception have vastly more
complex and deep fighting mechanics than the recent
Streetfighter games. I do agree though that the first game,
whilst a classic, is very much of its time and is a bit
simple.
