This just arrived today on vinyl. It's lovely! It's like
cold summer music; It works best on hot sunny days, but
makes you feel cold and relaxed.

8,5/10, buy it!

maybe i will, if you tell a little bit more about this. i
just want to know some simple details: label, year of
release, genre and just a tiny description of their music in
general and how it is compared to the old albums.

maybe you could even gift us with the knowledge of WHO THE
FUCK IT IS?

Samples of this particular release are hard to find, but
some of the tracks are on this

Label: Amha records, I think
Year: 1974, re-released recently
Genre should be obvious from the title or samples.

i love the ethiopiques series in general, astatkes being my
fav one in the series..it opened the door to african music
wide for me..there's so much brilliant stuff..lots of pop
jazz like astatke but also stuff that goes more psychedelic
which i totally love <3

I heard some of the other ethiopiques.. it was pretty weird,
especially the one with the whispering guy...

quite weak compared to his ethio-jazz imo..

the whispering guy is pretty darn close to my favourite. :P

nice to see this stuff getting a release on vinyl. i know
that there's another volume's worth of work from Alemayehu
Eshete out recently too, as part of the series.

I have a bit of trouble telling the releases apart, except
for in those general style things.. I have Ethio Jazz,
Ethiopian Airlines (this is one of the awesomest), and
Afro-Latin Soul. I think I heard some of the Afro-Latin soul
songs in there, but I haven't listened too much to that
one...

man...i've been trying to find that ethiopian airlines thing
but i couldn't..wasn't it give to the passengers of the
airline exclusivly?

I have no idea.. I ordered it at my local store, and one day
it showed up. Try doing the same; local stores usually have
large networks that stretch where large stores' networks
don't (they have execs dealing with execs while smaller
stores deal with the guys on the floor).

I could probably rip it for you, but the cable from
turntable to computer isn't that good, so it won't be the
best quality...

hah i can assure you that no store here would be able to get
that record..or wouldn't be interested in getting it.
i'll be checking slsk..is it titled ethiopian airlines?

oh i see..it's the mulatu of ethiopia one! i have that, i
thought this one was exclusive to airline passengers, as
mulatu of ethiopia was released back in 1972. it's an
excellent one i agree, there's a few songs from it on that
ethiopiques vol. 4 disc as well which is what everyone eho
likes his music should get imo.

Yeah, I don't know anything about that exclusive release
thing, but it says ethiopia airlines on this one... I have
no idea why.
