Carlos & Pedro, the boy wonders are back and this time they
rode the train of time back to the hippies and recorded the
ambient sounds of the backyard behind a hippie club (a
parked van). It's groovy, it's funky, the synthesizers are
still in their infancy, and it preaches love, not war!

Do you wanna appreciate?

"Do you wanna appreciate ?" became a cult favorite whose
belated MTV exposure helped build Carlos y Pedro's fanatical
underground following prior to their popular breakthrough.
Although the song was a ranting diatribe against corporate
and commercial greed, "Do you wanna appreciate ?" wasn't
really a political critique; the song didn't revolve around
carefully considered ideas as much as the force and drama
with which Carlos y Pedro expressed themselves. Their
backing music was immaculately crafted and produced, driven
by a deliberate synthesizer bass riff and overlaid with
various sound effects and treated guitars. Actually, aside
from the roaringly distorted chorus, most of the
instrumentation was electronic, but thanks to Carlos y
Pedro's performance, the intensity of the song's rage never
lets up -- and it's that quality that made them stars just a
few years later.

4/5

Pretty nice, though I didn't really like the percussion when
it came in (apart from the kick/snare). The vocals have just
come in, which are pretty neat. Overall I liked it.
