this new album material?

thanks for the link. downloading. it's something interesting
basing on your question. hopefully the quality is
listeneable. hopefully it was the right spelling of
'listeneable'.

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2007-04-06 03:47 [#02069848]
Points: 3718 Status: Lurker

the quality is outstanding for a live set i think. dont get
me wrong there are some similarities to the other recent
live sets, but there seems to be more acid and weird samples
and stuff. also seems a bit more 'listenable'..

offline Matvey from Kiev (Ukraine) on 2007-04-06 03:54 [#02069849]

good. 50% left.

don't know what has made me type that excessive 'e' in
'listenable'.
fun fact: the online dictionary i'm using doensn't know
neither 'listenable' nor 'listeneable', suggesting that I
maybe meant 'disenable'.

i hope that this first track that is playin isn't autechre

aaa yeah now some autechre comes in... wow i mean just
listen what how the first intro track evolved from back
their art school soundboard to this baby.

yeah i was wondering what the first track was...

the tracklist is the same as the dublin one but they haven't
left any track unchanged.
actually - making a bit fun of the guys it seems like they
needed a year to learn what every knob on their mahcinedrums
is for... i mean you can clearly hear the live progress in
this stuff. at some places maybe even toom much imho.

it's pretty good quality because its a soundboard
recording...

the synth at the LCC part is on fire

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2007-04-06 04:50 [#02069863]

pardon my ignorance but i was actually unaware what a
'soundboard' recording was, i assume it means like a direct
recording or something..? ace

its kinda weird cause you can still pick up bits of the
audience in the background at points

offline sadist from the dark side of the moon on 2007-04-06 04:54 [#02069865]

yeah exactly that it isn't recorded from a mic.

actually i like to have different recordings - a soundboard
to have maximum quality and a mic recorded to lsiten to the
crowd responses and the sound of the room where it was
played

offline sadist from the dark side of the moon on 2007-04-06 04:55 [#02069866]

at last i can hear this "speeding up" part at the very end
on a soundboard - awesome

Good Friday! Well this means my working day will seem even
longer now :/ It will be very interesting to have this,
after listening to the Belgium set and trying to imagine
what it must have sounded like at the gig...

Thanks!!!!

I'm working today too :)

hey has anyone created a(n even very partial/incomplete)
track listing for Autechre's "marathon" sets?

which marathon sets are ridiculous and keeping me quite
happy :)

im surprised after 2 years they are still playing at the
same set. from my experience with the machinedrum and
monomachine there is no 'save' feature, so when you edit a
pattern its automatically saved. It could be why they just
havent changed it up very much yet, because if they fuck
with a couple of the patterns they will have to recreate
them to get them to sound like the original.

at the same time. It was the blast

Is this one of their "mash up" sets then or completely live?

very circuit bent sounds at 9 minutes in the background.

offline futureimage from buy FIR from Juno (United Kingdom) on 2007-04-06 13:17 [#02069998]

It's nice to hear Ae using simpler sounds, gives it a new
angle.

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2007-04-06 13:23 [#02069999]
Points: 1038 Status: Lurker

its probably completely live, as in no prerecorded wave
mixdowns. but playing back lots of premade patterns on
several different groove box machines including mpc1000,
monomachine, and machinedrum whilst triggering some sounds
on a nord lead.

Yeah, does sound like that. Some of the sounds on this are
immense, fair play Ae are greater than ever.

its the same mono+Md+mpc+g2+etc. set done up so it sounds a
ton fucking more brutal. that kick drum at the very
beginning is bowel loosening

i was chatting with a friend last night about it -- and he
pointed out to me how gutting the kicks sound on that
belgium recording - but how on the soundboard its almost
kinda barely there (if youre listening without a sub). they
know how to work those rigs...

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2007-04-06 15:15 [#02070034]

i remember seeing a youtube clip a couple of months back
where AE was playing something that sounded kind of dub
steppish, it was entirely different from this set they've
been playing from 05-07 . It might have just been a
different section or something, i think i saw it on here
though does anyone remember this?

they keep refining it.

....my neighbors are going to be upset with me when i get

the intro to the Reset show I like better, starts out slower
- and that errant boom to start things off.

i think the previous sets there is really more bass, as is
evident in the mic'd recordings, but again with the
soundboards (glasgow) it's obviously mixed for a club

This is a classic Ae set, an essential.

yeah, that surprizes me too - the patterns are editable,
aren't they?

but thanks for the link Exaph, it's always interesting to
hear ae's knobtwiddlings and tweaks... (especially in
soundboard quality!)
