Fucking. Amazing.

March 31, 2007 (Hollywood, CA) – Music industry
executives announced this morning that they were withdrawing
support for the trade group the Recording Industry
Association of America (RIAA) and launching a new
representative body called Respect the Artist, Respect the
Audience (RARA).

In announcing the break the four major record labels
Sony/BMG, Warner Music, Vivendi Universal and EMI have also
committed to dropping all pending lawsuits, and will instead
join with Apple and Microsoft to create an environment where
Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology will be
eliminated from their online music stores.

yeah, i'm the same. it's being reported on the bbc as well
though.. I'm fairly confident they're not fucking around.

in any event, these aren't people who believe music piracy
to be a laughing matter, so i can't imagine they'd do
something like this as an april fool's

Yes, even if the 'RARA' thing is a joke, what about the BBC
article?

Other record companies would soon follow EMI's lead,
predicted Mr Jobs.

Let's hope..

Wow, anyone would think Jobs little open letter about DRM
free music was designed to try and get support for this.
Paying more for less restrictions? Fuck off. They shouldn't
be there in the first fucking place.

Change music to milk.

Imagine if you bought a pint of milk but you weren't allowed
to use it in the production of anything for your friends or
to give them some because they have to buy their own. The
milk is really good and you want a friend to taste this bit
of it but you can't. They have to buy their own to taste it.
