has anyone heard this track, coz, to be honest, it fuckin'
rulz!
Plaid aren't my favourite electronica outfit, but they have
produced some of my favourite electronica tunes.

I find that Brothomstates have pretty much the same call as
Plaid, not all outstanding music, but my god, some real
corkers (for example_'Vleade' )!

yeah, i agree with you about brothomstates, but they are
inconsistant and like plaid are.

I was totally stumped when I first heard the 'sprite' advert
tune, I couldn't remember if it was a brothomstates or plaid
tune, coz they have such a similar sound.

The Plaid track on the Renaissance EP is the best thing I've
heard from them since the break up of The Black Dog (as
was).

I'd agree they can be as patchy as Brothomstates, but I
think the comparison ends there. Brothomstates, who I do
like when he's any good, is far more minimal and not nearly
as accomplished or as "textured" as Plaid. Plaid
unfortunately to me now sound like a watered down version of
their old selves. Brothomstates sounds like an above average
net label artist.

Oddly enough, and a sign I should get out more, last night I
dreamt that (Chris) "Clark" was an alias of LFO, both of
whom have a track each on the same Renaissance EP. But of
course "Clark" was an alias of LFO for his release on the
legendary Planet-E label in 1995, so it wasn't complete
madness. But I was a bit concerned about the standard of
work under the latter Clark name. But luckily reality
returned and all is well again in the natural order of
quirky dance music.

brothomstates is like plaid's demo versions of their
b-sides.

I find that I tend towards the sort of tracks (by these
guys) where the quality of the bass sounds are so gritty and
dirty that it makes me wanna go up to someone in the street
(I am usually plugged into my ipod listening to it) and
shout 'FUCKIN A!!!!!!!!!!, LISTEN TO THIS',
hence, the next day I find myself starting a thread on
xltronic about the track that lifted me of my cobble-stone
treading feet. I live for tracks like 'Chasend', thanks
PLAID

I'm kind of the opposite on Chasend. While, it's not a bad
tune, it doesn't do anything for me. This is coming from
someone who thinks Handley/Turner are the best musicians out
there. Chasend is definitely a darker themed song, but when
it comes to their new material I think Where? from Tekkon
OST is a much better tune that is similar in themes.

Also, if you are a fan of Chasend check out Balil's "Glass
Dual" on The Electric Institute. The similarities are
definitely there.

And Dog_belch (long time bud), there's a lot of great post
TBD stuff from Handley and Turner out there. Get your hands
on their remix of Snow White Lies and Angry Dolphin Mix 2.
Some of the best 808 programming I have ever heard.

And finally, when people bring up liking old-Plaid/TBD, they
never mention the Undoneson EP. I wouldn't be surprised if
these tracks in some shape or form were from some unreleased
Balil EP/LP.

cheers for the suggestions 'revpersona' I will take note of
them and search 'em out. I admit I do really love those
darker dirtier tunes.
