Yeah, all the "it's my metabolism" and "I only eat normal amounts" is utter bollocks. Metabolism count for at most 20% of your (a lot of doctors reckon it's nearer 15%) weight (IE you might put on 20% more weight for the same amount of food as someone with an abnormally high metabolism). Likewise you do get people who have intolerances to certain foods (in evolutionary terms this is a benefit) that make them take almost all the energy from a food whereas most people only take a fraction of it. Usually dairy. I "suffered" from this as a kid. The answer is easy, you stop eating the food concerned and the weight disappears. You don't get people like this feller in Africa and they presumably have different metabolic rates, genes, etc. there. |
