Im interested to know what AFX fans in LA thought of the
performance today. I wonder how many fans have actually seen
him perform, good idea for a poll.

Well, I just got home from the All Tomorrow's Parties show,
and I have to admit, I feel pretty deeply disappointed. It
was my first time seeing him. From reviews of other shows
I've read, I believe what I just saw was a "DJ set"...mostly
other people's tunes mixed with a few Aphex tracks, among
them Cornish Acid, Acrid Avid Jam Shred, Mt. Saint Michel
etc., the 168 bpm AFX remix, Arched Maid Via RDJ...others, I
dunno. Someone else will have to tell you about the usual
corny stage show...at first it made me laugh, but then it
made me nauseous because I realized that I was not seeing an
Aphex Twin show. No light show either.

The PA system was terrible. My theory: RDJ didn't want to
play his own stuff if it was going to sound crappy. So he
played the DJ set.

I'm going to bed now. I'm really bummed. I won't be able
to listen to Aphex Twin for at least a few hours.

OK, well, I just re-read the review that Chapman wrote about
the recent Astoria show, and it sounds like I saw pretty
much the same show. I guess I'm just surprised that hearing
other people's tracks with the "Aphex sound" mixed onto it
counts as seeing an Aphex Twin show. I like acid, dub, and
drum & bass as much as the next guy, but...

And at least the Astoria sounds like it had a kick ass PA
system. UCLA's sucked.

New theory: RDJ just no longer enjoys (or never did enjoy?)
performing live for an audience. That's cool. Just wish I
didn't spend $50 to find that out. (At least I didn't fly
to the UK to find that out, huh?)

Good night.
