My Life: Turned Around

offline swift_jams from big sky on 2007-03-15 11:09 [#02062588]

So, I've been off the internet for a good two or three
weeks, for cleansing. During that time I have: Gotten a job,
not moved away, not joined the Air Force, gotten a
girlfriend, started smoking again, discovered the wonders of
weed and mushrooms (AMAZING). I'm where I want to "bee" in
life, but I've realised that I CAN live without the internet
or computers at all for that matter. So, I know it will
break lots of hearts, but I think I'm quitting the internet.
I did it for nearly a month without a problem, why not keep
it going? I've got a life now, and I'm going to be Kool
about it. I may pop in once in a while, to talk about
music.

Sup XLT. :D

If what you say is true, then it sounds like I'd do well to
refrain from internet for a while as well.

At least university classes and part-time work keep me out
of trouble.

the internet is always best in moderation.

unlike drugs; you should always do those in excess. :D

the insults. Especially with a word as beautiful as cunt.

aswell just stick to internet, or devote your life to WoW or
something.

Yeah. I've just stopped doing weed. I don't think replacing
weed for the internet is a particularly good idea....If
anything, the internet is a less destructive addiction
(although of course it depends on who you are. Some people
can smoke it and get by quite happily...)

btw Swift_Jams, you're SEXY.

i've known people that suddenly went all "aah i don't wanna
do this anymore, and i wanna do this in my life blabla", and
they went on the drugs and shit and became complete cunts.

one of em, Eric (track one, EAP004) even killed himself
cause his life just went pure shit and all, just because he
wanted to do something else with his life.

I tell ya man, you need to grow up fast and think things
through before you do this stupid stuff. Going off the
internet to do something else with your life is fine, but i
think that in the back of your head, you're only doing that
to enjoy drugs.

dude, he's 19 and just started smoking weed and
eating mushrooms, i'd he's at least a few years away from
becoming a junkie still.

altho granted id say you should have started with the weed
earlier, but eh, whatre you gonna do?

it makes the point of they don't have to be here if they
don't want to be. somehow everyone thinks that they have to
do what society tells them. i don't see it as an easy way
out, although you would probably call it that. we all die.
the rest of us are just too insecure to embrace it. we are
selfish and want more. that does not justify the fact that
we hurt other people in the process, either directly or
inderectly, of making ourselves happy. so to a few of us
with overwhelming empathy towards those less fortunate we
feel sick and frustrated that the rest of you make this
world a dark and ugly place. why would we wanna spend our
gift of life in a tragic setting beyond our control when no
one has any real control in the first place? i'm still here
because i understand that both negativity and positivity are
co-existent. a good dose of perspective helps.

i agree with the last two sentences
what does a nihilistic act of killing yourself do for the
world, in fact it makes it worse
you could do it it if after long thought you find life
unbareble for yourself.. :/ but not for the damn world

since why does not dicking around on the computer and
starting using drugs constitute turing your life around?
what you got a job? i dont think the time spent on the
computer was the problem, maybe try to temper all of your
addictions, try to be a "normal" person, or at least life in
some more moderate doses. do not go from one extreme to the
next.

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2007-03-15 18:18 [#02062778]

don't be "normal" either tho, that's boring, but yes, avoid
extremes and excesses.

well, a little bit of normalcy never hurt anybody, when i
mean normal, i mean non self destructive behavior, or at the
very least - do something proactive in your life.

to quote the simpsons:
"excuse me, but 'proactive' and 'paradigm'? aren't those
just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? not
that i'm accusing you of anything like that... i'm fired
aren't i?"

i don't think it's supposed to do anything for the world.
why can't people just die if they want to? one person in
several billion; i'm sure a substantial difference it does
not make. yes, it maybe a way for them to "make a point"
but i think the point is that they can't fully express their
feelings or emotions without them being misconstrued by the
limitations of time and/or language. and they probably
believe once they're dead it wont matter anymore; at least
not for them, obviously. bottom line, suicide is just a
really deep fucked up mental disease.

miami's aesthetic is the only thing that outweighs the fact
