[Off Topic] Question for Americans

Is the acronym "ACAB" in common use among your criminal
population? I am going to a fancy dress party as an american
prisoner and was thinking of having "HATE" on one set of
knuckles and "ACAB" on the other. I wanted it to be accurate
though. If this isn't the case, what are popular jailhouse
tattoos to have on your knuckles?

Thanks in advance.

It stands for "All Coppers Are Bastards". I've heard
Americans use FTP ("Fuck the police") in grafitti on gang
territory, in a similar way. Because it has 4 letters and is
a popular anti-authority motto, 'ACAB' is a popular thing
for convicts to have tattooed on one fist's set if knuckles
(one letter on each knuckle).

Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority

Fuck that shit, cuz I ain't tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell

We Need A Cop killer WNACK (Ice T shout out)

MS13 and bring a machette with you to the party.

Ive heard Acab once when I was a kid. I dont think its still
in use. or at least not on the east coast.

I've never heard that acronym before.

As far as the "C" is concerned, I think "coppers" would be
shortened to "cops". If I'm not mistaken, "copper" refers to
the copper buttons on standard police uniform from several
decades ago. Therefore, I think the word "copper" in
reference to law enforcement might be obsolescent, as it's
since been shortened to "cop".

I think it's more likely that it's an abbreviation of copper
where copper means "one who seizes," (cop er) as "capere" is
an old latin word meaning "to take."

Yes. It is a well known fact that the majority of the
criminal community are fluent in old latin and often utilise
it in the form of insults.

Language develops from one thing to another. Just like how
hocus pocus most likely comes from people misunderstanding
the priests going "hoc est corpus filio sancti" or whatever
that prayer is...

Do you ever get vertigo when you talk so far down to people?

I have vertigo quite often, but that's more because of
migraines and tinnitus and maybe when I forget to eat.

the words they use - thats (gangs) really big here.

Go with the "love - hate" routine, and some spider webs on
your elbows, maybe a black tear drop under one eye.

in dfw we say "pig" -- but there are plenty of cool cops in
dallas who dont care about weed and other stuff so its kinda
considered rude. its reserved for traffic patrollers
