...scheduled for this year on Planet Mu. Title:
Duntisbourne Abbot's Soulmate Devastation Technique.

Finally. No high hopes though.

Great news. There hasn't been a µ-Ziq album i've disliked
and i'm sure he'll continue this fine tradition.

That title looks as it's influenced by Venetian Snares

I think its safe to predict he will be trying to do some
sort of semi-dubstep

agreed, noncommital dubstep just so people know hes still
got his finger on the pulse like.

I anticipate an 18 track album, 2 of which will be any good,
the rest will be either forgetable or actually annoying.

...something like the last Kid Spatula, although I'd
increase the number of good tracks to 4, maybe 5.
Sentimental reasons.

It was funny that the original "Tango n Vectif" was
brilliant and didn't have any bad tracks, and he thought
"Hang on, that's not right" so they re-released it with
twice the amount of tracks, most of which were rubbish, thus
re-establishing his infamous shit/good ratio, which leans
more to the shit side with every subsequent release from
that point on.

Tango n Vectif was good because it wasn't just Mike.

I guess the new album is gunna be as good as the latest
stuff out on planet mu...which doesn't bode well.

I actually rather enjoyed Bilious Paths even if it is second
rate Lunatic Harness for the most part, but somehow I don't
expect him to flog that dead horse any further and I doubt
he can find a new horse to flog which he will be any good at

i think mike had his own brilliant style on his older
albums, some of the best melodys ive ever heard. It feels
like in his recent stuff hes jumped on other peoples styles,
all in the name of good music tho and doing a good job coz
you can still hear that u-ziq sound coming through,
influence is good but he needs to ignore other people for a
bit. I hope with this new album he's back to doing his own
thing but by the sound of the title i dont think he is.
we'll see...

what he has to offer

jega told me this is not at all like his last album and full
of many down tempo discordant melody compositions. he
compared it to cylob

offline thecrimsonguard from ∞ (United States) on 2007-03-02 14:14 [#02057511]

thats cool, did you ask jega when varience would be out? lol

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2007-03-02 14:28 [#02057516]
Points: 1038 Status: Lurker

yes i did, he told me the sad story im sure most people here
already know about. that his friend accidentally leaked a
far from finished version of variance on soulseek. From what
i understand he's waited so long because he's remaking the
album from scratch., he said that very little of what the
leak Variance had on it will appear in the final album. He
played a lot of totally new material at the last show i saw
of his including some glitchy dubstep stuff, most of it was
not on the Variance pre-leak.

the reworked version of aerodynamic on the last planet mu
compilation was utter shite compared to the one on the
variance leak

offline jackeroffer from Aruba on 2007-03-02 22:31 [#02057717]
Points: 1038 Status: Lurker

exactly what he told me pissed him off about this leak. i
mean imagine if you were him and an unfinished album of your
songs got leaked. and fans got attached to the unfinished
versions and when the final thing was put out they thought
they were shit.hes not gonna please everybody unfortunately.

yeah, he totally RUINED aerodynamic... waaay too much dsp
wanking, the original was fucking monumental!

i look forward to it sounding like venetian snares but
somehow being worse.

offline funkadil from United States on 2007-03-03 02:29 [#02057749]

I really doubt mike-p would ever try to sound like venetian
snares. He has a lot of good ideas of his own and a pretty
well established style.
