how does she know it wouldn't survive? It could be the start
of a new race of super ducks!

By a funny co-incidence, when I used to keep chickens, I
once dreamt that I had a chicken born with 4 legs. In the
dream there was someone else who wanted to have it put down,
or at least have the legs removed, but I was dead against it
and wanted to keep it as it was.

Once you've got a 4 legged duck, start crossbreeding it with
a lizard and you could wind up with a small dragon.

i think more often its just a twin that went wrong and one
of them ended up as just a pair of useless legs stuck onto
the other one. but it could also be a mutation, though still
the extra bits are normally useless. I think body plan
development is rather interesting, flies with legs for eyes
for instance
