electronic body music. it sucks. tell me how much it sucks
so that i can use it against this guy i'm discussing with.
he's nagging about his label beeing put down, and how much
he dislikes mp3's because he wants people to buy his record.

it's trance for goths. or for goths who secretly like
electronic music but hate to admit it.

it has the stupidest genre name ever (yes, besting even our
very own intelligently designed acronym)

i once went to their land and listened their music. as
isnieZot said it is trance but with some "i am from hell"
content. what sucked more is that the goths that brought me
there skipped the best stroll of the night, wich was jumping
cemetery's wall.

It has some great fun stuff, learn to appreciate it.

And of course it's ridiculous, but ridiculous is always
good.

i dled some "blutengel"
not exactly smart music, but their slow depressive melodies
made me fall asleep very well and i liked to fall asleep
listening to music with these beautyful, epic, melancholic
melodies...

but the fascination didnt last many listens

Sounds like that guy Tommy T from the side-line forums.

oh, and yes, ebm is horrible. Anyone that can push play on
a Roland Groovebox can make ebm.

Here's all the shit ebm you need:

Although the 'song getting heavier knob' looks cool...

SWOOOOOORDS, and sandwich.

Haujobb's Freeze Frame Reality and Solutions for a Small
Planet were good industrial/EBM albums. I don't really like
the stuff they did after that too much though.

of course Front 242 are/were kind of considered EBM and some
of their stuff was good, particularly Tyranny for You.

Calling Front 242 "ebm" is like calling Aphex Twin "idm".

No no... When 242 was in their hayday, there was no such
thing as ebm. ebm was a name given years afterwards, when
other bands started cloing that sound. Like Aphex Twin
being called idm nowadays.

Make sense? :)

Yeah, except Front 242 apparently coined the term themselves
back in 1984.

I don't know. I can listen to groups like Covenant and VNV
all day. I enjoy listening to the music itself. I can't
speak on any of the other stuff.

EBM sucks as bad as IDM does now.

Ah, I wasn't aware... The term hadn't become really popular
til the last few years, then it sort of hit out of nowhere.
I can see how the newer ebm bands could take influence from
242, but it certaintly doesn't do it justice.

We just simply pegged it as industrial back in the day
(which unfortunately let all these new bands with their 4/4
distorted trance to think they too were industrial)... meh.
