I want to take a sec and spam up my latest project. Emma Cora is a free EP available for download on Metanoia. It is a blend of organic instruments such as guitar and drums along with electronics and experimental/ambient sound sculpture. The EP precedes a full album coming out later this year. It features an album cut, an outtake/EP exclusive, remixes by Milieu, Fred Debief(aka Bazaar, Ascalaphe), and Pisgah plus mini mixes of songs which will appear on the album serving as interludes/transitional pieces.
Ref: Jim O'Rourke, The Postal Service, Dead Voices on Air, Rapoon, Steve Reich, Nurse with Wound, Sonic Youth (this is the stuff that I was reminded of as we were making it)

The album is very, very good. I am impressed. I just happened across it and downloaded it yesterday... Good stuff. Lovely organic flowy floaty warm lushness.
If you ever get this released on CD, please don't let some evil bastard remix it through a compressor limiter that chokes the life out of it. I like how it has dynamics, and my god, how often do you hear music that doesn't clip and annoy the ears these days. (potential listeners: you have a volume control. Turn it up and enjoy the dynamic range)

yea ... I wasn't 100% satisfied with how the EP came out myself. Over compressed, remixes that didn't quite fit the original source, not the best pick for the "single," etc etc...
The album however I am very satisfied with and thought it came out great. I'm going to do some limited on CD to give to family and friends, send to labels etc., but the "mastering" that has been done is what will remain. I agree when it comes to this kind of stuff as far as compression goes less is more.
If there is any reason for anyone to check out the EP though, it is for the track Gray Rose Alpaca which I think turned out well. If that EP were to be deleted I would definetly put that song on something else.
fleetmouse thanks for the comments I really do appreciate it.

In case anyone cares, because I know you all do, I remastered that EP and took off a bunch of the cheap compression that was on there (free VSTs suck).
What is left is a warmer, more spacious listen more akin to the album.
Also, there is a new Emma Cora track available on the Metanoia Media 50th comp as well as a side project with my bandmate and our friend Nate which is called The Cognitive Map. LAZY_TITLE
Look in mid November for a glasse release on metanoia which is actually reconstructions of outtakes from the Pisgah Eponymous sessions titled A Boy Not Melampo. Expect a combination of drony ambience and the post-industrial side of IDM ala later Autechre or Richard Devine.
