Listening to Drukqs tonight for the first time in several
months. Good album, sure. I simultaneously get why
people here think it's the best thing ever AND also couldn't
care less...

I'm wondering will we ever see more? I mean, 6 years later,
what can he bring? If this inquiry begs the ultimate
question, then where is he with dropping all this crazy
fantastic shit on our heads?

Analord doesnt count. Sure, it's good and it's hardware and
it's vinyl and its fuckng oldschool, but seriously that
stuff fit in the "meh" slots in my collection. And its
oldschool. And IT IS 6 YEARS LATER! And this genre needs an
enema.

Since Drukqs and VSTs, the breakcore scene has sorta
plateaued the playing field (I mean seriously isn't pretty
much all this the same shit?!!?). So, if there is a massive
mindfuck masterpiece wankfest to be delivered, where is it?

Didnt I read in like 1999, that he thought his personal
collection of unreleased tracks BACK THEN was supposed to be
YEARS ahead of shit that he thought would come out in 2007?
Guess what? We're here dude. Where's your new shit?

What keeps a person from releasing a new album in 6 years
without any genuine statement on what you are working on,
etc.? No mention of a triple disc SAW III, no mention of
new Aphex. This sucks.

My boredom with music in 2006 has officially carried over to
2007.

He needs to release the Aphex version of Confield, where 5
years later we finally understand it after years of not
knowing what the fuck is going on...

Windowlicker still blows all of it out of the water. As far
as I am concerned his creative carreer really ended with
that song. Thats it. Nothing more needed saying. It was the
giant searing orgasm. Everything else has been meaningless
pillow talk.

I think the Analord stuff had brilliant stuff. Fenix Funk
was better than anything on drukqs in my opinion. And I bet
there are shitloads of people that loved Analord. They just
don' go to this site.

I agree with your first post, although I think he's probably
lying when he says things about all that unreleased
material, just as he was when he talked about building his
own synthesizers.

successor to drukqs. i don't see biggest faster stronger
being the logical next step.

I'd love a new Aphex album. I wish he released with the same
frequency he did in the 90's. If only I'd been into Aphex
then. That's a great era for his music.

I blame Joyrex for the lack of releases since Drukqs. If
he'd only gone and said something other than "pretty good"
then we'd have another album I reckon. DAMN YOU JOYREX!

for all the crying that goes on around here over rdj and his
music i can't imagine the hell your lives must've been
before you discovered him in the first place. yeah i agree
he makes the most quality sounds out of electronic devices.
and he's made loads recordings. which i'd say i own roughly
90% of the actual maretial he's released. i can't say tho
that i'm suffering more with each day that passes w/o new
aphex. there's an almost infinite amount of music out there
still left to discover just like the day i first heard
girl/boy on mtv's amp cd. jazz for example, is practically
limitless in a quest for another genre that pushes the
boundaries of its contemperary borders. it's about
freshness and occasionaly one must step outside their own
comfort zone to experience something that will excite them
the same way in which whatever it was that they became
oversaturated with had before when the cycle began.

there's apparently going to be a new release in 2007 (first
half of the year according to what i've read). but now i
think it's probably all total bollocks and he's not going to
release anything for years except jism.

analord is good music that richard made puting limitations
on it, using only hardware. if he could do that, maybe there
is a genial release coming with all nalogics and digital
sounds.

imo richard always develop somehow in his releases:

analord showen richard is fucking technically talended.
drukqs was the complexity apotheosis.
windowlicker is the best idm singing song.
come to daddy added images to his music.
hangable auto bulb was the birth of rdj's drillnbass.
i am tired of this list. his next release will be awesome!

Drukqs is released, Richard ask joyrex what he thinks of the
album, and joyrex replies: "It's pretty good".

Since then Richard has never contacted joyrex again.

that's the story.

Aaaanyway I think he should release more stuff. I enjoy his
work a lot.

the thing is, joyrex said quite good...
the story goes that for english people 'quite' may be
interpreted differently than in american english, so richard
was offended because these tracks are like his childrens,
and 'quite good' was like saying "well, they're not bad'

anyway that's how i interpreted the whole thing...

can ask him now, he isn't a fan of that record.

how the fuck can you write off analord, which is the musical
equivalent of an epic with such righteousness? why don't you
just go listen to drukqs again if thats what you want so
bad.
i don't mean to be aggressive, and i don't believe i ever
have been on this board but fucking hell. make you own god
damned drill and bass if thats what you want so bad.

as for new aphex material, yeah that would be great, he's a

richrad opened the door (or hellgate) of electronic music
and techno for me with come to daddy and windowlicker

and he releases not too little, we just got so addicted to
him that we would cry out for another release one month
after his next one

still there is some good music around

and analord definately is a successor to drukqs

but i got to admit that i would like to hear some more
experiMENTAL stuff by him

im also curious what aleksi perälä has got to offer with
his new release, there is still "some" other good musicians
around...
i said that twice but its what i think
