My mate bought this cd yesterday.
We didnt really like it. Too much loops.

Not really. I mean, the ambient aspect of it is quite nice,
although i get the feeling that they use the same sounds all
over. but there are TOO MUCH LOOPING going on.

Yeah your right there probably is a little bit too much
looping. Of all the BoC releases is is actually my least
favourite.

i really havent heard much BOC except for this one.

I thought loops are what this music was made of... I thought
that trance-inducing through repetition was it's strong
point... Just thinking aloud...

"i really havent heard much BOC except for this one."
Come back in a week or so. my guess is that you'll have a
totally different view on Geogaddi (it takes time)
and BTW do yourself a favour, buy Music Has The Right....

Its not working for me though. If i want to go into trance,
i go to lucid sleep or get drunk. I must say, looped music
makes me feel bored.

just a question:

is geogaddi defining the boc sound? if so, i cant be arsed
to check them out further.

B.T.: no offense mate, but what the fuck are you doing here
then? I thought that everyone here liked looped music... Not
all of it, of course, but the concept...

offline Meho Krljic from Beograd (Yugoslavia) on 2002-03-15 15:07 [#00127239]
Points: 6617 Status: Addict

Oh, and I didn't mean it in an exclusive way (like, we
shouldn't be talking to you now or some similar crap), just
thought that you liked looped music, since you do like AFX.

offline Binaural Tea from Christmas City (Christmas Island) on 2002-03-15 15:10 [#00127242]
Points: 1912 Status: Lurker

haha. i hate looped music. i simply hate it. i like aphex
twin. i like squarepusher. i suppose i like ae. i dont like
boc (so far).
note that this is just my early geogaddi impressions. and
meho krljic: you mean, you cant hear the difference between
the variated afx beats and the repetative boc drums? music
is so much more than loops. check out the father of
electronic music : karl-heinz stockhausen.

would geogaddi be a good starting point for BoC? i dont own
any boc albums abd was wondering which to buy - can you guys
help?

i asked the same question not so long ago...i would say
MHTRTC. i think i like that one better. Has got some really
nice beats.

offline Meho Krljic from Beograd (Yugoslavia) on 2002-03-15 15:17 [#00127253]

B.T.: You are right about certain things, there is a
difference there, of course, but some of AFX's or 'pushers
stuff is also heavily looped. And their spastic style is
really very nice, and I like it a lot, but I also like
looped stuff where changes occur slowly and gradually (Ae,
BoC, Pole and so on...). Stockhausen is God, my man and I'm
sure he does consider himself to be a father of electronic
music (his such an egomaniac, but a nice one) but we all
know that Cage was doing electronic stuff before him (Pierre
Schaffer too). Just bought hid double CD with Klavierstucke
I-X and Microphonie I and II. Kickass!!!

SORRY MEHO, i didnt see your post.
After what i have heard boc is a bit too repetative. i mean,
ok, i really like s.a.w and icbyd and all those tracks from
the analog era. but boc is still into this, and i really
think music should evolve. its not like i diss them or so,
music is not a sport, but i wouldnt buy the cd.

It amazes me when people say "oh what are they like, I can't
be arsed"
If you can't be arsed finding out for yourself then you'll
probably find no one can be arsed to tell you (although they
probably have by the time I'bve typed this!). Go into your
local record shop and ask for a listen, it's not too
difficult. Then again, that will involve paying for your
music and supporting the artist, something that's beyond the
MP3 generation!

man, give it some time... it took me ages to really like
MHTRTC first... I mean I liked it right off, but it took me
a nice while before I really loved it... and the same with
Geogaddi... I've had it for a few weeks and have been
listeninging to it loads, and I'm really starting to get
into it now... it's excellent... I love BoC personally...
they're my favorite electronic group now...

Binaural Tea, I think Music Has The Right to Children is
much better than Geogaddi, and is worth buying. It is in
the same looped style, but its much more psychadelic and
captivating.

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-03-15 15:28 [#00127266]
Points: 16280 Status: Lurker

yeah, MHTRTC is the best to start... and their best
period... you should still check out that album... and give
Geogaddi some more time, and you'll love it...

offline Meho Krljic from Beograd (Yugoslavia) on 2002-03-15 15:31 [#00127271]

Well, there you have it. the opinions are really divided.
Well, as for Binaural's idea of music evolving, yes and no,
well I think a lot of people think that SAW and ICBYD were a
lot better than this spasctic shit from RDJ album on. I
think a good work of art is a good work of art if it is good
in itself, regardless of the style it is done in (and
regardless of whether that style is up to date or not.)
Skinny Puppy sound really primitive today, but their music
has not suffered for it. i still listen to it. Anyway, i
respect your taste...

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-03-15 15:34 [#00127275]

well I can respect artists for changing there sound... but
if they don't change their sound that doesn't mean I won't
continue listening... if I like a sound, I like a sound...
and not saying that BoC have released the same record twice,
cause they haven't... Geogaddi is very different from
MHTRTC, but is also their similar style... both are great...

Corticalsteam: You shold buy the two BoC-EP's "In a
beautiful place..." and "Hi-scores". For Autechre, I would
start with Amber.

Yeah i get your point. It´s all right. BUT. I´m just
saying i dont like hearing it. As my friend Selph says: Its
pretty much pointless repeating the work of picasso when its
already been done.

Yeah, I hear you and I agree. Copycating is bullshit. But I
somehow don't think of BoC just exploiting tired old
formilas... I like it, but anyway, If you don't that's cool
with me. As long as you don't start badmouthing Slayer or
Maiden
