I love Mulholland Dr., The Straight Story, The Elephant Man, and Blue Velvet. Even Lost Highway has its moments. Eraserhead was enjoyable, but I never want to watch it again. But Inland Empire, I felt, was just a big penis slap in the face. It's too long, it's ugly, it's boring, and it has none of the Lynchian humour that Mulholland Dr. had. |

Well, maybe some of us like "a big penis slap in the face"? It has a lot of humour. There are some great dialogues: "-Look at me, and tell me if you've known me before... -ok, we will..." " - Bam! I Kicked him straight in the balls so hard they go crawling into his brain for refuge - he went down like a two dollar whore [...] When the police came and they asked what happened, I told them "He's reaping what he's been sowing, that's what." They said "Fucker been sowing some pretty heavy shit." -There are consequences to one's actions. And there certainly would be consequences to wrong actions. Dark they would be, and inescapable." Pure Lynchian humour :) |

I agree that it was too long when it came to the middle section with all that Polish wank and random barbeques and the dreadfully long conversations. I just wanted some more Lynchian build ups, not cuts from one boring scene with people doing nothing much to cuts of another boring scene with ugly Polish men doing nothing much. But it was a good film. |
