Is just me or is body riddle a bit shite.
I have listened to it about half a dozen times, before
making this considered opinion.

I liked hello everything the first time I listened to it
unlike everybody else who seems to have hated it until
listening to it lots and saying it is ok.

Basically is it just me or is there a lot weak releases
around?
P.s Can't wait for the new Astrobotnia!!!

There are a lot of weak releases around. "Hello Everything"
is the weakest, most disposable album I've heard, and
anything I hear of Clark just says "Ohh, I wish I was
Aphex... anyway, I did a loop and made it loud", I'd no more
buy his fucking album than stick a cocktail stick through my
bellend.

I love this album. Really detailed and generally pleasing.
Yeah sure it takes influences from all the greats, but I
kind of like that about this release.

i like the recent Clark but the mastering seems awful, on
body riddle, throttle clarence and throttle furniture -
pointlessly loud and distorted. i remastered the tracks and
they're pretty good.

Do we all think this percussive style creates a more indie
sound away from the standard electronic techno, dance & acid
audio sound palettes?

what you mean by "percussive style", like emphasis on a
certain type of percussion sound of... ?

Who said "hey gang, don't you know Clark's for squares? Come
on, slag it off, look cool"? You're revealing more about
yourself than any perceived herd opinions. I'm just saying I

MY comment says about me that I find it suprising that

to be perfectly honest the last clark album, body riddle
sounded like something below average found on WATMM expert
knob twiddlers. in my opinion it was shockingly low
quality. i love throttle furniture, but boddy riddle sounds
like it was produced by his younger brother whom he was
teaching to make electronic music in real time.

I quite like the overly loud, fairly distorted sound of the
album. I think it was deliberate, as it calms down during
some moments...It's not like "Ultravisitor" or something,
where I found the mastering to be a result of a drunken
enginneer's bizarre tastes, rather then a sensible choice.

stick it on once in a while. its nowhere near as good as

like CS2x said the loud, distorted production seems
intentional and i feel it adds a sort of crummpf to it.

"Are you training to be a journalist?" ha!

i pretty much like this album. some tracks i love.
other tracks bore the fuck out of me, but theres the whole
-i'm happy to listen to it anyway because the album works
alright as a whole and the good tracks make up for it-
scenario going on.
that said, i fucken loathe the nanou track, whatever its
called. and the EPs were really enjoyable too. i wouldn't
say theyre better but theyre still definitely awesome clark
music.

watmm mentioned ted EP coming out in march, which i'm
looking forward to, but havent seen any mention over here.

I'm actually listening to this while reading this thread.
What's everyone's wanking about how Clark sounds like he
wants to be Aphex Twin. That's absurd bullshit. If you make
music, you make music out of influences, and that's what
Clark has in his music, influences by aphex, doesn't mean he
WANTS to be aphex. I do know what eveyrone means, since
Night Knuckles sounds like Aphex's Nannou track off of
Windowlicker LP. But that's besides the point. I like the
album more now that i've listened to it a couple of more
times nonstop, and i keep discovering new stuff. Plus i'm
just glad that he stepped off abit of the "Ceramics is da
Bomb!" and "Empty The Bones Of You" bunch, they sounded too
much the same, same beatsamples, same samples in general,
etc etc. Ok times up! Back to college

I agree with you. Sure, there's an Aphex influence in there,
especially in that Nannou-like track, but that doesn't mean
it isn't an enjoyable and accomplished album. I actually
find Clark's sound quite distinctive, and there's a lot of
elements in "Body Riddle" which are unlike anything I've
heard from Aphex Twin or other electronic artists.

Most of Chris Clark's stuff is boring really. I quite liked
Ceramics is the bomb EP thing, but the rest is a bit
rubbish. He uses a very similar percussion sound in loads of
stuff which gets boring very quickly. I've done a similar
effect myself with saucepans being scraped with cuttlery and
speeded up and sliced...

He played a local pub and I didn't go because of the
weakness of his output, even though he is probably the only
warp artist to play in St.Albans (where he comes from
originally).

I suppose the good thing is I get to bore you guys with the
fact I've been to Clarence park loads of times... how IDM am
I !!!!
Yeah body riddle is typical of (Chris)Clark and therefore I
won't waste my money on it.

I agree with whoever said Hello Everything is disposable.
The only track I would want to listen to again is Hello
Kitty, which is also mastered really really badly. I played
it in the car and there was no bass at all. Gave me a
headache and tinnitus almost. I normally listen to a lot of
dub, (not dubstep) when driving because it is calming and
being deathly white I enjoy the odd looks I get with the
windows down. Anyway when I put in Hello Everything, hello
kitty played, bass was somewhere mid spectrum-ish and urgh
yuk.
Thinking about it I'm stupid to buy Squarepusher, since the
only stuff I like is feed me weirdthings and hard normal
daddy. Maybe I should do what I do with Clark and not buy it
unless it is good.
