I WANT TO LEAVE ENGLAND

offline manicminer from Paris (France) on 2002-03-15 12:31 [#00127048]
Points: 1423 Status: Lurker

.....because it's wet. It rains far too much. It's quite
cold. The summer is really short and it rains loads anyway.
And the way of life here is far too cut-throat and
money-oriented. I want a more laid-back lifestyle in a
warmer, sunnier climate where the summer lasts.

Any (sensible) suggestions as to where I could go?

Scotland. :)

I have no suggestions but when you find this little paradise
let me know where it is. I want to drop out of society,
sail down to the equatorish area and find a little island to
call home.

I would love to spend a year in london but I think I would
then come back to my sunny spain

Spain. That's where I've always dreamt of going. Is life
as laid-back there as we are led to believe?

Of course it's laid back. Look at Nacmat :)
I wanna live in southern France...

Laid back means chilled-out, relaxed, less stressed.
England's such a stressful, busy, greedy island!

it surely is...but not as much as we are said... I am a bad
example though for my theory

but you know...having most of the days sunny and warm, makes
it easier

exactly, exactly, exactly! sun and warmth makes me so much
happier. it's almost all i want from life! my dream job
would be to be a fisherman in a boat in the mediterranean!

oh man, it sounds better with every minute that passes. i
could hand out free fish to people from the boat, a kind of
protein source for those who want to party the night away.
and tofu for vegetarians.

sun. i love it.

i just looked out of the window though and it's grey, windy
and raining. FUCK.

is that it can get to 50 degrees in summer. :)

England rules!

Many things I dislike about it but the good far outweigh the
bad.

Apart from an island I can call my own there is nowhere I
would rather be :)

I feel the same about NY sometimes, its not as bleak as the
U.K. but the winters here are freezing and uncomftorable,
and the summers are too hot and dirty. I actually don't
mind the summer's here, I know what you mean, sun and warmth
are all you need...that's why I applied to so many schools
in Cali.

what is "freezing and uncomfortably" to you, Xanatos? have
you ever been out in a fucking snowstorm and were the
temperatures have been around 30 celsius below zero?

offline Xanatos from New York City (United States) on 2002-03-15 15:23 [#00127261]

No, probably becuase I don't live in Norway. Everything is
relative. There are places colder where you live, and
there's people in places where New York winters would be
unbearable.

You're right, it is comparatively mild in NY compared with
northern europe. Doesn't mean I can't want to go somewhere
even milder, just like you do.

Freezing and uncomftorable is quite literally that, I'm not
really comfortable outside if the weather is below 32(F)
degrees. I usually don't complain unless the wind brings it
below 10, but I'm an outside person.
I'd like to be able to go to the park 365.

That's why I wouldn't mind going somewhere warmer.

the sun blows up. Eliminating the summer.

europe? of all the capitals in europe, it is the second
dry-est(?) capital after madrid i think. ok, and maybe
lissabon.

Contrary to popular belief, there is some very nice food,
the traditional stuff, but we have very good curry etc.
I also like the music.
I love the countryside, its so lush and green and on a warm
summers day there's nowhere better.
The BBC doesn't have adverts and is quite a unique way of
broadcasting.
