sure others will feel the same

thank god for this sentence

"99% of Aphex Twin’s sound comes from his compositional,
sound engineering, musical, timbral, production, and
arranging genius."

but its still interesting to see what equipment he uses.

i'm absolutely sure this performance isn't live, exept for
the use of a flanger:
tube

there's a glitch in the quoth remix that's on the cd as
well

I've seen videos of aphex, autechre and some other knob
twiddlers performing live. I think they're just pretending
to make music on the fly, they don't seem to be doing
anything.

i've heard thats what mu-ziq does when he's playing live
from his laptop - just presses play in windows media player
or something similarly lame and pretends to be messing
around with stuff on the screen.

so it's more like background noise he accidentally recorded
than his music, then?

Aphex Twin builds his own instruments.

He uses hundreds of instruments, sound sources, softwares,
and devices... but in the early days, he had a very
consistent sound for certain portions of his output and
those are recognizable by the kit you see on the page.

And for those who doubt he (or any electronic musician) does
not play live, try it yourself. When live, you can mix in
loops, sounds, and sequences. You can adjust pitches,
timbres, effects, etc. Live laptop sets can be amazing.

Its about the musician, not the gear.

Hello, welcome to XLT, I second DirtyPriest in that you made
a phenomenal first post. Hope to see you around these
parts.

Also, thanks for the info about his gear. Even though I have
no plans on getting/replicating any of it, it's still an
interesting read.
