They don't have pubs actually, sadly, they have places called pubs but they're more like nightclubs and they don't open until about 11pm. There are seedy little bars with plastic chairs and strip lighting and all the atmosphere of a working man's illegal drinking den where you can go in the day, but then I do live in the back of beyond. In the capital Santiago there are pub-like bars, there are even pub pubs, well, about 74% like a pub. Britain may have many faults, but you can't beat its pubs. |

Yeah, exactly, you can't beat a Genuine Boozer. I was thinking maybe I could try and do an authentic one here but then the bastards wouldn't appreciate it and I'd have to install bright strip lighting, plastic Coca-Cola branded chairs and have a tacit no women allowed policy again in order to get anyone to come in. |

Haha! I'd try for you. Funny enough, I never see here many familiar beers from back home, in the capital you can get Guiness but that's about all I've seen. But the other day I went in some funny little mini-market I'd never been in before and they had a few bottles of imported Newcastle Brown, all less than month from the expiry date so they were dead cheap (obviously no one had ever bought them), so I stocked up, but then had to neck them dead quick before they went off. |
