For the sake of argument let's say Radio6 has a very
discerning listenership.

in the IT Crowd?

Richmond Avenal is indeed the name of the character in The
IT Crowd. I mean look at that light flashing there, is that
good or bad? I don't know.

Marvel at the fact they'll play ANYTHING on the radio, and maybe write to your MP complaining about
the license fee

Good lord, what a cool surprise! I'm sorry you missed it..

That is a bit curious that no one told/paid you for it
though, there's gotta be a copyright infringement in there
somewhere.

I'm going to bring down the goddamn BBC, hold them to ransom
unless they bring back "Eldorado", the only soap opera I
ever enjoyed.

You've got clout now.. Do it!

I've never seen Eldorado. I did see pieces of Eastenders
and Coronation Street (Correy?) when I visited London, and
they seemed to be of comparable quality to US gems like
Guiding Light (that is, awful but of utmost entertainment
value).

My mate got one of his d'n'b tunes played on Mary Anne
Hobbes about five years ago, they sent him an email to let
him know the night before, but he actually sent the track in
on a CD-R to her. Did you send the BBC a link or a hard
copy?

I don't know, as that show was last April, and you all had
the Grinning Ape "MP3-LP" launch date marked in your diaries
as Ape Rules Fools Day (ie April 1st) I guess some eager
beaver BBC work experience researcher browsing for "freaky
shit on the net to play on the show" picked up on the hype,
or Stuart Macone is bill_hicks on XLT, or maybe as Spoilt
Victorian Child Records sent an email "press release" at the
time they followed up on it, but I don't know as they don't
tell me anything, not that there's anything to tell I don't
imagine.

I wonder how many obscure web-tunes get get played on BBC
radio. I listen to a lot of their dancey/"alternative" type
shows and I've never heard an announcer say "Well this is
just a random tune we found on a website, but it's quite
good, honest." It's usually a proper release you can
actually buy, or occasionally some demo or promo sent in to
them.

Happy Shopper, Gold Crest, Tuck Shop Antics, Ambient Techno,
Naked Apes 1-5

They're all great. Thickly-layered, semi-melodic aural
brutality (in a good way).
