This is a song with a sort of drum and bass feel, but with
a touch of quartet and squelchy melodies. What do you
think?

original and slightly good until conventional fast drums
came, it was like squirlup wa yawaa wa ya waya, and it was
like original but all in all was like a toasted cheese
sandwich that wasn't all the way toasted. i guess the only
way to get emotional about the melody is to think about rice
or pill bugs.

I know what you mean. The beat is definitely a lot more
conventional than the squelchy stuff. But I've found that
deliberately avoiding convention in percussion often means
just making a beat more fucked up. And fucked up beats tend
to lack the sheer power of more conventional ones, and often
draw attention from the melody (and in this song, the melody
is the focus). Thank you so much for your criticism. Maybe I
will play around with some different percussion.

Also I've probably been listening to too much old LTJ bukem.

Instead of having it fade, why not introduce a little
section to carry it further, make it a little longer. I
liked it, although the spacey stab melody could maybe be
toned down just a little!

I liked it but it wasn't as good as Aphex Twin or
Squarepusher in terms of beats. Still good, though!

Ok, I rewrote all of the percussion. It's slower and
weirder. I also toned down that stab sound as marlowe
suggested. Is this version what you guys were thinking?
Better than the original or worse?
