On a side note, has anyone noticed how the world 3 and 4 map music from Mario 3 is almost melodically identical to the fairy music in the Zelda games? |

Transgender freak. Apparently nintendo have retconned Birdo as a female in more recent games! power-up- Frog suit from smb3. Underrated and a bit gash on land. But used on a water level it pwns hard. music- Underground music from SMB. world/area- Giant Land from Mario 3, the one where things are either normal or gigantic. side-game (none of the normal platformers)- Warioware Smooth Moves. cameo appearance- as the umpire in original gameboy tennis. |

I forgot to mention. If I'm allowed it, I'd count the best power up as one of the countless SMB3 ones I devised using the game genie. Seriously, by basing new codes around the existing power up ones, I found some truly mad "power ups". Most useful was a low gravity & invincible one. The mario sprite glitched a lot, but it made exploring the game/practicing very easy. Including one where mario even looked more like sonic than mario! |

Yeah that game made me start the topic, I beat it the day before yesterday for the first time in many years and marveled at the game design. Rarely do I play NES games that transcend their era and the nostalgia, but Mario 3 is all that and a bag of chips. |

hah. you too played mario 3 recently? really is my favourite game. i got home from a friends place at 12am the other night. and wasnt tired, so put on super mario 3 on nes and played it to the end WITH NO WARP WHISTLES : ) ceri jc, the frog suit may own in water, but theres seriously only like 4 water levels in the game. that dire dire docks tune, my bro made a song based on that, or something.. would like to hear it again actually.. i guess. game- Super Mario Bro3 enemy- those fuzz balls in yoshis island that make you trip. (those chanting tribal shyguys sing a pretty mad song too) boss- bowser in super mario world power-up- tanooki suit? the flying one that turns to stone. music- too many to choose from. i'll just say the original theme (because the fun times me and my friends used to have years back when we'd sing that and mix it into the wallace and gromit theme.) world/area- giant land in super mario 3.. or ice world. i used to hate theres but its an alright non gimmicky alright world. side-game- super mario kart (snes all the way) cameo appearance- farmer in ocarina of time?
