Yeah, I made a track about the rain and it's called
raindrops and will be on an album that I might finish before
the end of this year.

The track is based on a couple of breaks, guittar
recordings, voice recordings, rain recordings, sneeze
recordings and a couple of synth samples.

Would be nice to hear what you think of it.

raindrops on zebox (warning: auto start when entering)

raindrops on myspace (warning, myspace sucks)

That's cool. You need good stereo seperation otherwise the
detail drowns out so I used headphones. Seems like a lot of
effort went into it.

Thanks for listening sir, do you mean that the stereo image
is a bit "centered" or that the stereo spread effects ive
used drown out the details ?

Just that a lot of insticate music especially with lots of
stereo use can sound much worse when played on cheap laptop
speakers, or even average quality speakers imo. All the
sound units in aphex's flim are large and punchy enough to
sound fine on laptop speakers for example.

yeah, I totally agree. I make and mix on headphones 75% of
the time, so it's also natural for me to make an mix suitet
for headphones.
Wich acording to some is wrong but headphone listening
(especially in this style) acording to me is quite nice and
also quite common.

Dude, I always love your music. I'd swear you were
squarepusher's cool twin if I didn't know any better.

Thank you!

I'm kinda happy I'm not a squarebrother becouse if I were, I
wouldn't get any chicks.

(and we all know that's why we keep making tracks, look at
squarepusher, he's not giving up! why ? lack of ladies,
aphex has all the girls he want though...)

Thanks Skink, the track itself is very close to finished,
gonna fix some details, improve the mix etc.
It was actually 6:30 long from the beginning and had vocals
and a completely different climax but I decided to remove
that part as it didn't quite had the same quality as the
rest of the tracks I have finished for my album.

See, I have a grand plan of making the best, most personal
and heavy IDM/Drill album ever.
I have been working on it for 1,5 years now and it should be
finished within another year.

Now: laugh! :D (and check out the album when it's done.)

This is amazing! Very nice touch on the guitar at the end
and the water. I'm gonna save this to me harddrive.

thanks for listening as usuall!

I have no idea how to play the guittar (it looks weird, not
at all like a piano.)
So all the guittar parts are sampled bits and pieces, that
"loop" in the beginning and the end was just me sort of,
trying to make the guittar play a couple of notes haha.
Have to mention though, the guittar part in the "breakdown"
is my friend playing, also him asking me before the track
kicks in again "what should I go for next ?" and I'm making
an atempt at telling him what style to play by saying "go
for some slappy shit" :) communication at it's best!

Also, during the track there's subtile recordings of rain
pissing out here in sweden while at the end it's the sound
of rain dripping from the roof after the worse rain had
fell, I thought it sets a nice "it's over, the track is
over" feel.

Allot of fun facts!

nice tune! Too bad the beats are so squarepusher like
though, i reckon you should try and create your own
drumstyle

The "takeoff" is kind of at a weird place, and has a weird
intro. I'd like to hear that bit all the way towards the
end, the kim hiorthøy-ish bit, stretched out a bit more
with some cleaner drums.

Aside from that, this is a great track!

The arrangement is quite odd yeah, I have been considering
to change it a bit depending on how it sounds with the rest
of the album once it's done, will store your thoughts about
it untill then.

I have never heard "kim hiorthøy" so I'm not sure what bit
youre talking about there...

And thank's for always listening and coming with good
advices!

Akira: thanks for taking your time to listen aswell, it's
kinda tricky making "drill 'n' bass" without it sounding at
least slightly similar to some of the "top names" in that
genre, I don't think much about the drum programming though,
I just do some beats that I like and then mess them up in a
way that to me sounds natural.
It was many years since I last felt directly inspired by
squarepusher or aphex for that matter, so I can honestly say
that I'm at least not trying to make it sound like any of
them (but at the same time, I'm aware it does.)

it was a pleasure to have a listen...
thought i still must put an accent on what i was saying
earlier even though what you said was well understood, and i
empathize. The "top names" as you refered are hard to put
aside when one's composing i guess. I reckon if you put the
time and creativity into it, one's able to put any other
music aside and create without any ground basics. That's
how you'll ever stand out... your beats are really REALLY
familiar, and that's no good

you need to hear Kim Hiorthøy!

It's awesome!

Oh, perhaps it's time to start recording myself drumming on
coffe tables! oh no, that has been done before aswell!

Seriously though, I understand what you mean and I'm sure I
could make more "original" beats if I really set out to do
so.
Been very fond of jungle in combination with complex drum
programming over the past few years and I do think it's
allot of fun to make, many times more fun then simply trying
to do something different to be honest.
After this current project I'm sure I'll be fed up with
breaks and fast tempos etc though, so I might go and try to
do something completely different :)

Mastah: I couldn't get those damn samples to work (yeah I
know I suck) but I took a detour and qued up some over
soulseek!
