I've heard a lot of their stuff, but I'm not a huge fan of
any of it. The video to "closer" is good though. I think
"Dead Souls" is pretty good.

I was into NIN from the beginning, things got boring very
quickly after The Downward Spiral. For a new person, I'd
probably recommend TDS.

Everything up to Perfect Drug is good. Newer than that is
pretty boring.

I've heard the newer stuff and I stand by my comment.
Although 'and all that could have been' is a step back in
the right direction.

Download:
-The perfect drug
-the great below
-We're in this together

Buy:
-The downward spiral

You will be immersed in NIN goodness in no time.

the fragile is good though its quite experimental and for a
newcomer it would be difficult to get into.

if you were going to but a cd i'd recomend "and all that
could have been" its kind of a live greatest hits
compilation. Or even better you could get the special
edition which has that cd and some new songs which are
amongst his best he's ever done.

I got into NIN about a year ago, my obsession started with
TDS... so that's what I would naturally recommend. It was
one of the first artists I ever got into where I NEEDED
more. The Fragile was so beautiful when I first heard it...
and I think it still is. Pretty Hate Machine is ok, but I
don't really consider it on the same level as I do the
others. Still is beautiful as well, but it's kind of
fragile-esque. The thing I like about NIN is that every cd
is a different direction, an evolution :)

I think the new stuff is crap - but perhaps that's because I
can't connect to the music anymore. Ten years ago I was a
poor student and his kind of angst really meant something to
me. Now I'm happily married and successful - and his lyrics
just seem rather trite. I think I'll go listen to some Mouse
on Mars now.

That's probably why I don't really like nin much anymore. I
grew up. And mouse on mars does sound good right about now.
I'm gona go put some on.

np: mouse on mars - instrumentals : )

personally i think his lycrics are some of the best written
in music today, however its his music that really impresses
me and in the long run its what will keep me listening to
nin. his instrumentals are some of the best songs i've ever
heard. "a warm place" "gone/still" "leaving hope"
