RoadWekr

Making little loops is terribly fun & relaxing after a hard
day's work.

the echo of the high pizRRRRitched smenchy should be less
off centered on the roRRRRws like fo up i mean down dosome
rows so it is not all like sidewaysism with the rest of it
but mor like fittiRRRRng wRith it if you catch my drift.

I can't decipher your crazed surreal finger doodlings.

This is my next SUPER AWESOME CHALLENGE DELIGHT for you:
try to change from one 'loop' directly into another with as
much change as possible I guess, but still having it sound
good. ie. just changing a chord isn't enough change if all
the basic notes relative to eachother and samples stay the
same.
Kind of like how megaman music just flows seamlessly from
one major 'section' to another instead of looping that one
part.
That is hard for me to do. Gayness.

CrowFlow

OK homie, I accept your challenge, and will get cracking on
it.

That's maybe the best one yet imo. How do you do chords in
this one for example; do you even think about them? Are they
all typical 'play 3 notes together'.

Thanks for the compliment, very appreciated :)

With CrowFlow, I started by concocting a beat out of 808
percussion samples. Then I added the little stabby melody.
After that, I added a simple chord structure underneath,
then added a double-tracked melody (the slow, sad one on
either pan). I then adjusted the stabby melody and chord
structure to better suit the double-tracked melody: chord
sequence is C minor, C minor+2, F minor, G; quite simple :)

MothEye

This was meant to be Loop #1 of your challenge, but I
thought it would disrespectful to it to stick it next to a
totally different loop!

Here, I tried to make a loop change to another loop with
shit modplug tracker sounds. It worked pretty good I guess.
(change 1/3 through cuz 1st loop repeats again after 2nd
one)

Cute track :D I liked your little bouncy bass and the glassy
percussion: I thought the challenge was to use a totally
different set of sounds? Coz I was going to go from that
slow piece (MothEye) into some upbeat dancey number :)

Firebrand, you have shown me the error of my ways...
(motheye music)

I am sorry for what I have done... the power consumed me...

Firebrand, take this pendant to the cave east of here.

I must leave now...

GWAAAAAAAA...(motheye music while you leave the words on the
screen for awhile, not scrolling to the next screen yet out
of respect)

*King Morok has died*

*Firebrand received Neecole's Pendant*

*You feel a great strength surging in you*

*Firebrand can now cast scrotum slicer 4*

I'm not sure if modplug tracker even has more sounds
than that... :(

I wouldn't mind writing some music specifically for a
computer game; I think it would be real fun - more fun than
writing music for film.

Yeah, I'm gonna do that tomorrow after work I guess. I'm
really enjoying doodling musically at the moment - feels
gewd.

B.t.w. Are you able to convert your mod-tracker stuff to
MIDI files? If you are, you could up a song and send me the
MIDI file.

Oh there is an export as midi option; never used it but I
have opened other people's midis with it (and usuallly it is
too retarded to get the rows spaced right... instead of
being on row 0, 15, 31 it puts it on row 0 13 and 32 or
something.
Here is airman's music. Try to make something this good.
When the fast part happenes I have no idea what's going on
even when it's slowed down. They use weird subtle
simultaneous slightly different slightly out of phase
melodies or something. Airman is tight. Bubbleman is
beautiful but simpler. (I just recorded the midi play with
my microphone for airman here):

what notes are 'c minor + 2'

In this case, it was middle C and D together (on that
instrument). An example of a Minor chord with 2nd, is the
opening chord of the Twin Peaks theme.

I think the sounds used sort of clash or something; if all
the sounds were the same exact sample on this one I think it
would sound much better to me.

I'll set them all to one instrument and see how it sounds:
what kind of sound do you think would work best?

pianoy; doesn't really matter, just needs the symmetry.
something with crisp beginning thus making all the notes
clearly seperate instead of dulled out. Yes, that is my
diagnosis.

Ok, I made another marlowe222.
Since I suck at distinguishing pitches I made a wave of me
making a hum noise in note c. Then I could more easily find
the right notes by making it out of hums first since my own
hums match the hums of the humming hums that were humming.

Which one of the plethora of electronic musics linked here,
evolume? Thanks for listening (unless you're referring to w
M w's, in which case, thanks for listening to his great
musix).

roadwekr: this is true awesomeness! it makes me think of
some kind of side-scrolling game where you are a small man
with a huge gun (it covers his entire front) and you shoot
green, yellow and, most notoriously, purple enemies.

crowflow: this one was a bit more generic. could be the
drums.

motheye: this is the underground/graveyard level. I love the
instrument that isn't the guitar.. what is it?

spoonwalker: clearly final fantasy 7 qualities, and that's
not a bad thing! This could be somewhere near some quantitiy
of mako, possibly even the motherload.

traces: haha, you did the sand/persia level! flying carpets
and men throwing knives ahoy, sinbad!

Thanks very much for listening, and for your cool comments
on the loops :)

On MothEye, that echoed guitar is a String Studio VST
instrument - it's a pretty neat VST I nabbed from Oink!
