And now we discuss Jugband Blues by Syd Barrett.

Which can be heard
here

Featuring a wonderful production at the abbey road studios

Wonderful tape delay on his voice. My favorite part.

The nursey rhyme rhythms to his vocals are syd through and
through. I love this song.

Do you have multiple personality disorder?

I sort of have that, but it's more like how morla the
ancient one refers to himself as 'we', just from being
excruciatingly lonely for glacial periods of time.

Probably the best song in the floyd catalouge. Although that
changes alot with me. Definiately suits my mood at the
moment though.

I've been on a Floyd trip the last two months, really into
some albums ('Animals', 'WYWH') but I can't get into the
Barrett stuff at all, whimsical psychedelic pop seemingly
not my thing. While pompous overproduced dinosaur snail rock
is... hmmph.

"What is a dream?"
"What is a joke?"

inexcusably cringey stuff.

You misquoted it, which is inexcusably cringeworthy.

Would also like to add. That lyric is not cringworthy at
all. It's very disarming considering his fragile state at
the time.

Probably my favorite Pink Floyd song, although the poppy Syd
Barrett singles are close.

I think you have to be Southern English (and not the Chav
kind imported from God Know's Where... probably (It's Grim
Up North)ern England *spit*) to really appreciate the
whimsical nature underpinned by darker tones of Syd Barrett.

I'm pretty sure that foreigners can't fully experience his
music. Sorry, Ophecks, you Canadian (and therefore either a)
descended from the idiotic Scots or b) the lovely French),
you cannot truly understand the nature of Barrett,
just as I cannot truly understand the nature of Ice Hockey.
Sela!

Just Joking, Of Course.

I wouldn't disagree with your first paragraph, but
regardless of ironic and satirical they are, I still think
they're shite.
Gegarding your main pointAlthough all that is subjective to
how cosmopolitonly cultured the listener (or viewer, as
below) is.
Only the Irish fully appreciate Father Ted, but there are
very many british comedies that we get on as much as your
average Jonh Smith. We se the UK every day on TV for our
lives. Many films, documentaries etc.We know the UK better
than the UK kn[ow Ireland. I'm falling asleep now.
