My gf wants to go next year. I'm not fussed. I hear it has good scuba diving out there (which is what I'd spend most of my time doing). Any "must see" area's/attractions? |

Well, I went there backpack style and toured all the west half side of the island. My tip would be to avoid stayin' much days in Havana, as it's full of smoke from the cars, fuckers jumpin' at you in every corner tryin' to sell you cigars or anything, overpriced stuff an all that shit. But spend some days there. We went to a fuckin' awesome jazz concert (most ppl in there where musicians) at a famous place called "La Zorra y el Cuervo". And don't worry about crimes, you can calmly walk anywhere anytime... no thieves there... Out of Havana all is different. No ppl jumpin' at you, great nature landscapes... Get acomodation in private houses (government authorizaed). Human touch and some breakfast seriously massive. |

And about scuba, well, we went snorkeling to a reef. Cool. Weird fishes and all that. Lots of diving spots all around. Maybe not that impressive for us being from Mallorca and all... Also: Drink drink drink. Mohitos and Cuban beer are very good. Smoke some cigars. |

The best part, anyway, is the ppl... We made some REAL friends (out of Havana for sure), went with locals on our crazy nights out. They love to talk and talk and talk... but keep allways an eye on your girl, because those dudes are horny as hell (but in no way dangerous). Nightlife is very cool there. Endless... 5 in the morning and we were like 8 ppl in a mini russian car that went out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. An adventure, I tell u! Avoid eatin' crocodile becuse it tastes like chicken-pig! Take a horse ride (just ask anyone there) across the vast and green areas. I felt like a motherfuckin' cowboy. Racin' with my mate through endless lands. Get in the jungle! |
