Hi Folks,
I know there are a few networking bods here so thought I'd ask. I am looking at an affordable way of generating "truly random" numbers, ideally on a home computer. I don't need any help with that exactly, I've got a few ideas/avenues to follow there. What I wanted help with is the following;
I'm looking at comparing other means of generating random numbers and was trying to remember the correct name of a dedicated server that generates truly random numbers based on a source of entropy (I believe it was radioactive decay) within a sealed bit of hardware inside it. It was for very high security applications such as military/intelligence IT. I've covered the theory of them in a fair bit of detail a few years back, but I'm damned if I can remember what they're called. Without the name of this technology, however, I'm struggling to find more info on them (I want to check price, speed/quantity of number generation, etc.)
For obvious reasons, searching for "encryption server" is awash with irrelevant results.
Many thanks in advance. This is for a mock research proposal BTW (The proposal itself is what's being marked, not the idea, hence my asking here as a shortcut rather than spending a few hours looking into it)
