Conned?

Look, I know theres quite a few movie buffs on this
messageboard and it's not hard to tear apart a film these
days, but this movie had an inarguable depiction of humanity
in some scenes.

To each their own but you're acting rather desensitized
towards opening up to what this film was portraying. I know
saying that is just asking for an argument to start, but
this movie touched me on a deeply humane level. Conned is
such a shit thing to say.

Did you get it? Are you over it? Are you beyond it, you
fucking critic..

"Overall not the great movie some are hyping it up to be,
but it was slightly above average and somewhat entertaining.
I probably wouldnt see it again
"

I second that, well said.

i thought it was a pile of shit... with exception to the
scene that everyone is going on about up there. no substance
to the story and the end made me want to wretch.

nice effects, some nice action... i thought the rest was
boring filler that led to pretty much nothing by the end of
the move. crap :)

Jesus, I can't understand why people hate this movie so
much. I thought it was truly superb. The most effective,
striking movie I've seen in YEARS. At the very least my
favourite movie of the past year. As far as i'm concerned,
it's a masterpiece

But hey, each to their own

I didn't even notice the scene everybody raves about. to me,
it was just another scene in the movie that sucks you in. I
went to see it with high expectations and it didin't
dissapoint. that's a good sign always.

...lets discuss serious matters. Franco Battiato's rehash of
Ruby Tuesday was one of the most beautiful things i've heard
in a long time.

i liked it. i like the way its just a small part of a bigger
picture. it is really just about clive owens character. he's
in every scene of the film. it starts when he is drawn into
the story and ends when he leaves. all we know is what he's
told and what he's there to see. i like that as an
expository device. the sense of dread in the film caused by
mankind realising it was coming to an end was great. i also
loved the cinematography. the acting was a bit shit in
places though.

also im not sure about the big scene at the end being all
one shot. i thought there were a couple of sly edits but i
could be wrong.

from what i read about it, they did use a couple tricks and
it wasnt an *actual* single long shot. however, i believe
the whole thing was done in something like 2-3 shots, which
is still pretty impressive when you take in to account how
much is actually going on onscreen the entire time and they
still made it basically seemless.

holy-wood magix ftw!

I just watched this film last night. I'm not going anything
to provoke those who think it was contrived except maybe to
say get fucked. It was a well excecuited hypothesis of the
future, visually stunning and featured 1st class
choreography.

4/5

just finished watching this...

ok, things i learned from this movie (spoilers ahead,
duh!):

without children smiling all world will go to war without
any other apparent reason.
with one and ONLY ONE exception: the uk... assuming because
they were cold, child eating bastards in the first place?!?!
("bloody catholics...!" ?!)

refugees from all over the world would come to gb, there
they would be treated all equally like the scum of the
earth, shot at will and put to concentration camp like
prisons.
ah and speaking of which, another thing i learned is that
germans hate being caged up. with black people.

ok, résumé:

children=cute=the only reason not to shoot your neighbour

war=very, very bad :((!

germans=xenophobic

black, hip-talking young ladies who can't count the people
they slept with or remember their names / old, reefing
hippies who always know the latest, fancy conspiracy
theories listening to APHEX TWIN and who love to fart
around= teh good peoples, so pure and funnyLOL!

governments=bad, because they bomb their own people for
reputation or some shit like that.

weird towel heads screaming allah akbar=never to miss in
some uprisings in the streets!

hmm, come to think of it, maybe this was a BIT clichéd/
paranoid/ pointless...
and that 15 minutes "ultra-real-live-civil-war-shot" (with
penderecki's threnody for the victims of hiroshima playing
haha wtf) a BIT gimmicky and tasteless considering what we
are used to see from recent/actual events and without
serving any concrete moral message.
hm, ah but no, c'mon! i mean babies... they ARE so nice to
look at right! from now on i will try to do my best to
become the nice human being and reproduce like hell!

10/10!!

I thought it was cack, trying very hard to be gritty
and bleak and ending up just being silly. Pompous,
ham-fisted garbage. With an ok soundtrack. Bleh.

I watched it yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Not "change your
life" deep, but very entertaining and well done. Good
soundtrack too.

i cried in the end, thank god for humanity! haahaahaa.

no really, excellent film, some of the most interesting
effects ive seen in my life (the riot scenes is out of this
world). the scene where they flee away in the car with the
bike chasing them shooting julianna moore is one of the best
ive ever seen. so incredibly intense. and the ending was
quite touching too.

The chase through the woods scene was one of my favourite
too. Have you watched the "making of" for that scene? It's
really clever how they did it.

Sadly, they didn't show how the bike going over the bonnet
bit was done. It's possible they just actually did it with
stuntmen. A 30mph off, with the vehicle hitting it going
away from where you're going to come off, on mud rather than
tarmac isn't so bad if you're wearing body armour and a
spine protector.

hewhehehe.. if they actually did that with stuntmen, yeah
well.. that doesnt make it less impressive.
